MD, you don't have the slightest clue of what goes on between Monty and his players, so don't speak on it.

Well last night it happened within 10 feet of me lol, others saw it on the board too. Thorpe chewed out another player on the court, and Monty and German go into a heated argument on the bench. If you went to the games you would see this. Don't shoot the messenger just telling you what I observed and heard with my ears from Row 2

Well look at you flexing about having second row seats. I was there too. Anyone that has been a part of a team understands that **** happens. Teammates get into it, and players get frustrated. Why shouldn't they? Yesterday was a frustrating game! I just think you're blowing the slightest thing out of proportion.

I just wanted you to know I saw it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. Well if you were there then you saw what happened too. Yeah that stuff happens with teams, but when you are coming off 5 years of toxic environments and you see signs of it continuing, one will assume the problems persist. You have to understand, people have been waiting for a winner for a long time here, when you see the program going backwards, its natural for people to vent and make their frustrations known.

+1 it’s okay to be frustrated as a fan, but to make assumptions and rumors is unfair. Teammates getting on one another/young players showing frustration does not constitute a toxic environment. NIU has eight returning players from last year and eight players that are entirely new to the program (respect how absurd that is). In every facet of the term, this team is different from years prior.

RE: UW-Milwaukee predictions
This team is not more talented than last year. Justin Thomas is a back up not a starter. There isn’t a inside game like there was last year with Maric. Jaylen Key is hurt. Defensively not having Aaric Armstead and Maric is why they suck at rebounding and defense. There is no three point shooting threat(Pauga). Monty is safe this year but next year is his fire or retain year. He was always going to get to coach Key and Bradley’s senior years.

- I doubt Justin Thomas will be starting at the end of the year.
- The loss of Marin sucks, no way around it.
- Jaylen Key is going to play come January.
- Aaric Armstead was a great leader and defensive player. Let's leave it at that.
- Austin Pauga shot 36% from three last year and 38.5% in his career. That's not a threat.

I really like Geno and Dante Thorpe (obviously), but Gairges Daow is looking real good as of late. As said before, the team needs more skilled big bodies. Hamilton is just a freshman, and anything you get from Zelis is a bonus. Pound for pound, this NIU team is the most talented I've seen in the past seven years.

Noone was spreading rumors, they were observations. When you have a coach openly embarrass a player in front of fans, and another player yell at another player on the court, that is toxic.

Credible, what are you smoking! If NIU could shoot 36% or 38.5% from three they would likely be undefeated! Yes Pauga was a threat and they currently have 0 three point shooters on the roster. You will never get to even a 500 MAC record without three point shooting.

The most talented team was two years ago----Highsmith, Porter, Wilson, Pauga, Maric---all who would have been here this year and are gone. This team is nowhere near the most talented team of Monty's tenure. They will barely win any more than any of Patton's teams.

I don’t feel Monty yelling at a player or one player yelling at another is toxic. I see it everyday in every sport. The problem might be that Monty is not hard enough on them at practice.

Well this is what I am confused about, he insists on embarrassing players out in the open, which means they are not doing what is expected of them which is more of an indictment on his coaching. Maybe he just can't control himself, it just undermines the players when he flips like that. Almost seems to me like some type of anger management issue, or maybe he is trying to emulate Izzo tirades. Whatever it is, I think it just causes players to tune him out.

Offensively, this team is not far behind the team you mentioned, and in fact, it is a more efficient offense than last year's edition. The thing which is taking people a little by surprise is the extent of the defense/rebounding decline. NIU has the worst defense in the MAC. That just is really scary when that has been your identify for so long, and when your offense is just marginally better.

Please, I'm notcredible.

There is a rather significant difference between a teams best 3-point threat shooting 36% and the team shooting 36%.

RE: UW-Milwaukee predictions
Well when Pauga would get the ball the opposing coach would yell 3pt shooter so he thought Pauga was a threat. Also, Pauga still had two years to get better and likely was a stare this year. German, Thorpe, Pauga much better than German, Thorpe, Thomas.

Thomas is playing because he has some experience and Jaylen Key's injured. I think someone (likely Gairges Daow) leaps Thomas on the depth chart soon anyways.

Agree with that. He and German on the court at the same time is not the best combination right now, but probably done based on what you said.
