LOL

David Cobb‏ @DavidWCobb
A University of Tennessee source with direct knowledge of the situation tells me that the tweet from Clay Travis is "absolutely not true at all...No truth at all."

RE: Brohm to Tennessee
Somebody help me out here...

Isn't the salary structure for university employees set by the state?

Coaching salaries are a mix of funds from several different sources.

One of those sources is the paycheck from the actual state university which is less than the president/chancellor.

Other sources of funds comes from various outside interests.

Does the university chancellor/president have any say (approve/deny) salary packages outside the state-provided money?

OMG

Joe Giglio‏ @jwgiglio
Reports of Dave Doeren interviewing with Tennessee today are inaccurate. So is the one about "close to taking" the Ole Miss job

I would say with almost certainty that the chancellor has the final say over who is employed by the university regardless of the source of funding. She, or her designee, would sign any contract with any employee from faculty to maintenance.

Look at it this way, if the president didn't have the final say so, the boosters could just contract out to any coach, bypassing the AD and the university.

The chancellor would have to okay the contract ultimately that would probably have language built into it on the additional sources, so yes and no...but I agree it sounds fishy that the chancellor would say no to someone else spending their money.

If this is true, the whole thing is just to cover their ass on the previous contract cancellation.

Cobb is an actual reporter who covers UT for the Chattanooga Free Time Press.

What is UT supposed to do when a flamethrower like Travis puts this out there?

Hyams said on the radio it was UT President Joe Dipietro that balked at the contract because of the buyout.

Fanbase wants him fired now too.

All gone or wanted gone. Inmates are running the asylum.

Conveniently establishing another example of a contract being rejected at that level before Shiano goes to court.

They were never offering Gundy $8.4M.

UT's administration needing pasties is both hilarious and horrifying to picture at the same time.
