Well played. And after fifth or sixth some might say any taste difference is barely noticeable.

Then we go lose to W&M, as is tradition, and usually those posters go away.

We have no room to talk, we haven't won jack in this conference. Some of our posters are living in the past acting like we own the conference like we did with CAA. Even if we win back to back championships, that's still no way to talk on here. It's just mildly frustrating, especially when it always seems to come from ODU fans.

Just STAAHHP

Not wanting to get in the middle of an argument, but ...

1). What ODU fans have come on here and posted that ODU was God's team? Also, there have been lots of posters who represent fans of all of the teams in CUSA that have voiced their displeasure of the conference about one thing or another (i.e. conference leadership, TV package, officiating, tournament location, some schools lack of dedication to their athletic programs, scheduling, etc.).

2). Someone would have to be very new to following ODU basketball to think that ODU losing to William and Mary is "tradition". Prior to 5 or so years ago the "tradition" was that ODU got the win in those contest. As it stands, ODU still has a sizable advantage in the won/loss tally.

3). It is inaccurate to say that ODU hasn't won jack in this conference. ODU just won the conference soccer title and got the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. If ODU had never won a single game in any sport, or if they had won every title in every sport it doesn't matter. The same holds true for any other conference school. We are all in this deal together as a conference and should do whatever is within our means to make it stronger for our individual schools and for our conference as a whole. That includes discussing things as fans on these boards.

4). I 100% agree that people should not come on the boards telling other schools what they should or should not do, but that doesn't mean that the subject shouldn't even be discussed at all. The country is rapidly evolving into one where it is becoming so politically correct that if anyone says anything that even one radical individual can possibly take offense to, then they are shouted down because of it. Soon a guy won't even feel safe in telling a girl that she looks nice for fear of being accused of sexual harassment. Let's face it, everybody doesn't like something so that pretty much makes every topic or every statement objectionable to someone.

5). People like WKUYG have taken the time to post information that is both informative and sheds light on the subject. Kudos to people like him for taking that path instead of others that want to make many of the subjects into personal attacks instead of logical or opinionated discussions. And of course ... lighthearted fun, and friendly jabs are always accepted.

This is the first year that our conference has started to show some potential in basketball. With the schools in this conference, we should be a 2-3 bid league every year.

Yeah, we have so much to feel empty about, especially compared to ODU...

What this discussion lacks is an FAU fan's input. And, after my post, it still does.

Here are my thoughts:

-Schools like FAU and USM want a certain # of home OOC games
-Schools like FAU and USM don't have the money to schedule decent OOC games
-Therefore schools like FAU and USM take who they can get

What's the solution? Play less OOC games against D2/3/NAIA and more body bag games at big time RPI schools?

Pretty sure FAU's budget is ~50% greater than USM's...

Does Southern Miss ever schedule South Alabama from the Sun Belt? Seems that would be a good close rivalry if they don't have an ongoing schedule already with them.

Not sure if you're joking or not. We've been playing them just about every year since the 60s lol. Matter of fact, we played them tonight...and lost :(

No I wasn't joking by asking that. I didn't realize that Southern Miss had that series going but felt that it would be a nice one to have if you didn't. I went to watch an ODU game a few years ago in Mobile, and we use to be in the same conference with them back in the 80's when ODU was in the Sun Belt. The league was a bit stronger back then than it is now.

I had just stopped back by to edit my question after seeing on another topic that Southern Miss was playing them tonight. Sorry about losing to them, but glad to see the teams matching up. The conference will be happy when the Eagles are back challenging for the league title again.

RE: Why the hell is FAU playing Ave Maria 6 games into the year?
You and me both brother. Right now we are terrible. We're finally past all the Tyndall-era sanctions but we're left with really really poor talent and a severely apathetic fanbase. Some fans just do not want to accept that Doc Sadler is not the right coach to re-energize our bball program now. I hate it for him. He had no idea what he signed up for and how bad it would be but that being said, it's time for a new coach. He was a good coach for the tyndall-sanction-transition...but now we need to hire someone who's young and energetic, someone who knows good x's and o's and could possibly snag a decent transfer or 5 lol. We'll never be able to recruit great because bball is just not a popular sport in the football/baseball driven south....so we need a super hungry young energetic coach from some obscure D3/NAIA school who wants to grow and make a name for himself then jump ship to a bigger school. That's fine with me...we'll just need to rinse/repeat. That should be our bball program's plan from here on out until fans/donors are giving more of their money into our program. Then we can start talk about scheduling better programs to play in Hburg instead of Blue Mountain State and Rust College (??).

My 2 cents.
