Blazer Almanac - 11/28
November 28

UAB Football
Only one game played on this date. In 2009, UAB hosted Central Florida and lost 34-27, finishing the season 5-7.

UAB Basketball
The Blazers are 7-6 in basketball games played on this date.

1981 - UAB beat Pittsburgh 78-62 in a game barely mentioned in the media because Bear Bryant had become the winningest college football coach that day by winning the Iron Bowl.

1986 - UAB lost to Auburn 68-58.

1987 - 30 years ago today, in the second round of the Great Alaskan Shootout, the Blazers faced #1 ranked Syracuse. Larry Rembert had 18 points for UAB as the Blazers lost 79-63.

1988 - UAB defeated Hawaii Pacific 86-63.

1989 - UAB defeated Alcorn State 104-53. A surprising attendance number for this game was 9010 fans, with absolutely no promotional effort at all. Associate AD Pete Derzis could not explain why so many came to the game "Obviously, we underestimated the interest of our students during finals."

1992 - UAB beat Chattanooga 65-62

1997 - In the Great Alaskan Shootout, UAB beat Southwestern Louisiana 75-67 despite recording a record 42 turnovers.

2000 - UAB won at Texas Tech 89-71
2006 - UAB lost at Western Kentucky 69-54
2008 - UAB lost to Boston College 83-77 in the final game of the pre season NIT tournament.
2009 - UABeat Florida A&M 90-59.
2014 - UAB lost to UCLA in the final game of the Battle 4 Atlantis
2015 - UAB lost to Virginia Tech in the consolation game of the Emerald Coast Classic.

Blazer Birthdays
Two birthdays to celebrate today.

**Born on this date in 1975 was Basketball player Todd Campbell. Campbell was a freshman who only played in 8 games during the 1994-95 season.

**Born on this date in 1981 was Gabe Kennedy. Kennedy was a junior college transfer and played an integral part of Mike Anderson's "Fastest 40 Minutes" from 2002-2004. Kennedy averaged 10.7 points in his career.

RE: Blazer Almanac - 11/28
There have been a few seasons where we would have been bowl eligible had we won our last game.
