You can see that I have been around for awhile and I don't offer too much criticism or opinion on Rice Matters. I played at Rice and was a team captain. I care deeply for my school. I would not stir trouble or cause problems. I believe this is who we will get based on a person I have spoken with involved in alot of NCAA football information.

Good article. Nice read. Money talks and so do people who have relationships.... JK and Stanford people. I have been around sports and coaching long enough to know that how someone thinks and feels o ne day can do a quick 180 the next day if the right thing is said or discussed. Who knows guys?

While I'd much prefer Anderson if we go the Stanford route, my brother (long time Stanford season ticketholder) told me tonight that Bloomgren was also on Harbough's initial staff at Stanford as OL coach. He apparently is known to be an excellent developer of talent, including several walk-ons who became first round draft picks (e.g., Castro). He said he'd check the Stanford message boards to see if there's talk of either as candidates for the Rice job. Anderson is apparently up for the Oregon State head coaching job.

The thing with Bloomgren is it's not clear exactly what his role is as OC since most at Stanford believe Shaw pretty much calls the plays.

I can understand that. But if he is the tech guy and coach so many say he is surely he knows the ins and outs of offense. He did graduate from Florida State with a 4.0 gpa.

Alot of people/coaches know offense and defense. We all know it's the other things they know and do that will make or break us at Rice the next few years.

Couldn't agree more. We need a guy who is both a stellar motivator and a disciplinarian. Is Bill Parcells available?

I would say that recruiter, motivator, and disciplinarian are all far more important than schemes on either side of the ball.

All excellent qualities. Hope we find the right guy with all these attributes who is the right fit at Rice.
