Any school willing to pay obscene amounts of money for Kiffin is gonna want to see him at FAU for at least 3 years. If
hes willing to stay for 3 years it will have proved he has matured. OTOH if he were to go 12-0 next year and take FAU to a bcs
bowl hes gone.

I think he is gone after next year as we return something crazy like 85 percent of the roster and he knows he can improve his stock even more.

I'll take another year, this was to be expected if he did well of course... means he did his job!

True but... I'm hoping he is so happy at FAU he stays. He's coached at UT, USC, and the Raiders. He's experienced the elite programs. Why go back. He can make a legacy and be the G.O.A.T. for a school at FAU.

Untrue for sure, he did enough at Bama and now one season at FAU for someone to pay the guy....If you think he has to stay at FAU 3 years, you are out of touch with the reality of today's college football world...

In fairness, being an OC, even at the very top FBS school, is different from being an HC. First off, you are THE MAN when you are an HC, second of all, the visibility is different. For example, an OC's tweet is far less interesting than an HC's tweet is. And, finally, it is one thing to be putting together the team's play and it is a much different thing to be responsible for one facet of the game.
So, while I do agree, he may have done enough for teams to have fully made up their minds on him, his one year at FAU may be as important (if not more so) than the 3 years under Saban.

I would love for any CUSA team to make it to the access bowl. If Lane sticking around makes that happen, then thats what Im hoping for. FAU seems to have the best chance of that happening in the near future. CUSA needs the access slot badly.

Yeah don't know about that, FAU really benefited from a super weak CUSA top this year.

Sure would be something if Mahlzan went to ARK and Lane replaced him at AUB.
I just cant fathom Gus leaving AUB right now though.
I had a 9 hour layover in Arkansas once. I still have nightmares from all the bad food and grey buildings. Hopefully the entire state isn’t just unpainted instant mix concrete buildings and hole in the wall bars.

Yeah and maybe this is one of the ways Kiffin is re-paying FAU. He knows if a big school wants him then they will pay the buy out fee anyways.

Regardless of his feelings the school that hires him away would be obligated to get him out of his contract. But yeah he won't care

The way I look at this, even if he is not the coach next year, he has already paid off. But, I do think he is here in September. The third year I am, certainly, not sure of.
