Looks like we'll see Rowley substitute for Knight against smaller/faster teams and Harrison will play against slower half court teams. I don't expect to see much of Loewe, Tot or Williams after Christmas.
What are the redshirt rules? Are Loewe or Williams still eligible?

No, and I do think they will play, just not significant minutes. Injuries can and do happen.

Loewe and Williams will be potential starters next year and/or play a lot of minutes, so, important to get as much experience as possible this year.

Tighter rotation, I think, is far more effective in getting/keeping the starters in rhythm.

Also Cohn can't play 40 minutes every game. Even though Loewe only gets 4-5 minutes a game, they're valuable as it gives Cohn time to catch his breath.

RE: Defense
We have some talented guards coming in, but Loewe will be the only PG on the roster next season with real game experience.

I definitely see this being Loewe's standard with more minutes in games that maybe are a bit more out of reach. We've seen the last couple of games that he comes in for a 4-5 minute stretch in the first half to spell David, then David plays the entire second half. I suspect he'll see 2nd half minutes in games where there's a bit more separation than we've had recently.

RE: Defense
Playing time is going to be all about the matchup. I think in most games, less foul trouble, we only go around 7 deep. Some games will feature more Harrison. Up tempo games will not. Games where the starters are producing will shorten the bench up. This is not too uncommon. Most of our opponents don't go much past 8 deep.

I know this is somewhat out of left field, but Glover is still on the roster and if he's back, I expect him to see some game action too.

Tony didn't even sniff toward Cole yesterday. I imagine the speed of Marshall kept him off the floor. Jihar got in, gave up a three on defense, and that was it for him.

RE: Defense
It definitely seems like we are seeing how far we can go with the 5 starters plus Rowley. Obviously there are a few minutes for Tot, Loewe, Williams and Harrison based on rest and foul trouble, if nothing else. I still remember Tom Schalk and the valuable minutes he played his senior year. The bench guys need to keep working because they will be needed at some point in the next 3 road games. The level of defense likely will determine the need for more bench play, either due to fouls or fatigue. While there was historic offense for the Tribe the last two games, there was not much defense or foul trouble. So far, though, it is very easy to like this team. Hard not to like the production from Pierce, Knight, Cohn and Milon. If Connor can keep this up, we will have the most balanced starting five from an offensive perspective in Tony's tenure. Still not sure where the defense will come from, though.

Tot is getting a fair amount of bench playing time and doing pretty well as a role player. He's well-suited to play next to Loewe to provide veteran ball handling in a pinch. I'm hoping we can get in some lopsided games in conference so Cohn can get a break. 35 minutes a game is not sustainable.

Cohn appears never to get tired; note that he stands during most timeouts.

If you watch this year's very talented Duke team, they have not played good defense until the end of games when stops were needed and the light turns on. If this team can replicate that and show the fundamental ability to turn on that side of the game at the end or during critical earlier game periods, then we have a lot to look forward to. Just need to have that stop dimension available.

“Number one, we recruit shooters,” Shaver said Monday morning. “It’s not a surprise to us that these guys can shoot. Number two, we do spend an inordinate amount of time shooting. That’s probably the biggest change for me from my first 10 years of coaching to my last 10 is that we really practice shooting the ball. And we get a lot of volume and repetition in doing so.”

So, Shaver has the mindset we all thought he did - "Forget defense, we are going to go outscore every team we play"
