You need to log in to really see what is available. Plenty available down low, though there are some sections that have no seats.

I noticed the upper corner seats aren't even an option to buy. A pretty smart move to try to get everyone seated closer. I hope we can get better attendance than last year. This team deserves as much support as possible.

I pretty much took the article as he isn't going to pursue opportunities until the season is over. His quotes didn't lead me to believe he wouldn't interview afterwards.

Their neighbor doesn't root and should be given a private tour of the pit of misery! Dilly, Dilly!

Agreed. Let's hope we keep winning an lengthen the season out through January. That's our best bet that the "plum" jobs will already be filled.

Agreed. As I mentioned in another thread with the new early signing period it is now probably more likely we keep a coach the better he does.

I read it the same way as well. That said, if we win the next three games, there is a three week break that would easily allow for him to go off to talk to someone about the right job. I wouldn't hold it against him if he did.

Sadly we all say he should be paid like a top CUSA, Sunbelt, or MAC coach which would mean doubling his compensation to around 800k. It's not going to happen.

Why isn't he paid like that? Attendance is better than those conferences. Team is better than all except perhaps Toledo. And he does it with many less scholarships.

Hope he stays, but will wish him well whatever happens.

Plus he loses a lot of players this year.

Realistically?

There is probably a soft cap on what an FCS coach will be paid. We also have a young alumni base with a small pool of big donors.

[u]Mike Houston isn’t going anywhere. At least not right now.

If we do a 15K kind of thing at BFS, it won't look well to Mr. Houston.

Last year's reported attendance for the second round game against UNH was 13231. Even if you assume under-reporting of ~12%, you're still only at 15k.

The national championship may give us a small boost this weekend, but at the end of the day, its hard to get people to the valley for the playoffs. Its cold, its closer to the holidays, people have less vacation, the dog is sick, etc.

Being undefeated and #1 or 2 for most of the season doesn't hurt either.

I don't think MH would leave before the playoffs unless a big name school comes calling. He could also interview numerous times over the phone with AD's and others involved without actually going to the campus. Georgia Southern wanted him on campus this week and name the replacement this week. That is probably one of the reasons he removed his name. Say if this was Tennessee he might have bit at it There is so many variables in place that we don't think about or realize happening.

i think that there is 0% chance MH would leave JMU before the playoffs are done - it doesn't matter who comes calling

that said - i think we will eke out 1 more year out with him

GSU just named the interim the full-time coach. Sounds like they didn't want to wait on others such as Houston or Bohannon at KSU.

News of Craig Bohl accepting the Wyoming job on 12/8/13. Craig Bohl stays on at NDSU despite the public announcement and NDSU wins its third straight title on 1/4/14.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc...g/3908927/

One week later after the Bohl news (12/15/13), Kleiman is announced as promoted from NDSU DC.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc...h/4031073/

Whenever he leaves, I would hope Houston stays on to the final game and truly gives it 100% until the season is over.

Big difference is that there is a signing period in December now so if you are going to take the job I am pretty sure your employer will want you full-time to recruit.

All coaches say this, right before they leave. I hope he doesn't, but him saying this is meaningless.

Yes. I love Coach Houston, and hope he stays forever, but the reality is he is worth more than we can pay. I do believe he will do what he can to take care of the players if/when that time comes.

That being said I believe he will ultimately land somewhere better than the Sun Belt. Not that it really matters but would be curious if he really did withdraw his name or if he was told that they had went with an internal hire.

I'm 100% being facetious here...

Let's run an FOI on his phone records to see which schools he might be talking with.03-shhhh

I know he has his own private, non-school provided form of communication. I know by the time we got the FOI back, he will have accepted whatever job he's going to accept. But that suggestion fits right in with all of the other crazy thoughts that go into this message board. Sorry I was the one who threw it out there. Never to get back.

it is. also, to the people saying that being in the playoffs will help us as there is less time to find a job: i guess that's true. but don't forget that Craig Bohl left NDSU for Wyoming in the middle of their 5-peat. he was hired in December and started after the NC game. if a coach is going to leave, they're going to leave, and a school that wants them enough will wait.

Agreed. The CAA 4lyfers are grabbing at Houston's comment, the same people have stated that JB saying "we are happy where we are" is meaningless and he is working the phones for a conference change.

Not a bad raise from being a TE coach making 100k to the head coach making a reported 650k ( a 150k bump from previous coach).

IF Houston were to leave, I expect it will be with loads of class.
What I mean by that, is that I think he will give our admin as much time as possible to find a new person and wouldn't impact recruitment.
I do think he respects JMU and this admin too much to do something that would put this program in a bind.
