Funny thing is our fanbase would prefer the Cure bowl if Marshall was the opponent, I'd still prefer NOLA as it's an unlikely destination for us year in year out.

My question is would the Cure Bowl consider the old rivalry between App and Marshall to make that invite?

The Cure Bowl would love to, but in order for that to happen, they'd have to convince one of NOLA, Mobile, or Montgomery to take Georgia State, and that's not likely without the Panthers having proven they will travel yet.

The other factor is that since Cure is not an ESPN Bowl, you're going to get ESPN working to get App into one of their bowls.

I’d sure love to see some of these so called sources. Several destinations depend upon this weekend’s games.

The only thing we know at this point is that Troy/AState/App are likely to go to one of the top 3 SBC Bowls respectively. Where they go from there is very dependent on not only this week's result, but the potential opponent in the bowl.

losing to App somehow worked out. Sorry Alabama, but Mobile and Montgomery sucks. Orlando is more fun.

Orlando against Marshall would be more ideal than a game against USM.

I could make Mobile work. After all, it was the 1st city in the US to hold a Mardi Gras.

We had a blast in Mobile, but our fan base is different than most.

Absolutely for many reasons. Orlando is cheaper and easier to get to than New Orleans. App/Marshall have a history together and would draw in a lot of the 40+ y/o crowd. However, New Orleans bowl has a higher prestige and USM is a better team than Marshall. The ESPN coverage helps put NO higher than Cure, but I hear the CBSS team does a better job with in game coverage.

If the options were

NO Bowl against SoMiss or Cure Bowl against Marshall it'd be hard to pick but I'd have to say Cure against Marshall as App will be playing SoMiss next year anyway.

I'm sure our Seniors would like another shot at USM after the way we lost to them in 2014.

For those against Mobile as a destination, it really is a nice town where one could have a lot of fun in, Original Mardi Gras location, Some of the best Seafood restaurants I've ever eaten at and just a few mins south in Gulf Shores they have the annual mullet tossing competition lol.

My only grip about the bowl game in Mobile is the date.

Yeah. Cause the 18k that was at the Cure Bowl when we played were mostly from San Jose.

Montgomery has been awesome to App. Don't knock it until you have been there for a bowl game. I think App fans just want to see another great city this year. Should be fun watching how it all unfolds.

lol I didn't mean to offend mobile. It just didn't appeal to me as a vacation destination. Maybe it's a great beach town but it's winter.

exactly. we had a respectable crowd for Cure. Considering the opponent was from San Jose, 18k attendance was awesome

Troy/Ark State winner: New Orleans
Troy/Ark State loser: Montgomery
App State: Mobile

That's my guess.

Mobile is ok.

Montgomery would be a day trip at best or maybe just watch on TV

Orlando would be a 3 day vacation.

You mean next year, because I'm pretty sure we get to 6 again in 2018. I have no problems with Montgomery or Mobile. From what I've heard Montgomery is actually pretty nice.
