RE: At what point would you be content with AAC
As a fan:
1) access to the playoff, that if my team is undefeated, we have a chance at a national championship
2) not to be mixed up with the minor conferences, i dont even care if we are seen as equal to the p5..i just dont want to be rivals with the sunbelt/mw/cusa
3) good p5 bowls for anyone over 8 wins....(you deserve to play middle-iowa if you are 6-6)
4) a coach that isnt old can come to this league and feel he can retire here and coach here for a decade...not all, its never be all..but just the notion that it is okay to stay in this league
(as a fan that is it)..8 team playoff will honestly solve most of these
minor thing) to go back to the original tv games guarantees on a per team basis as we did before we added tulsa and wichita (we had 100% guaranteed on atleast espn3 3 seasons ago, i realized recently that the overall guaranteed games hasnt increased despite, adding teams, Houston has 3 games not on any sort of tv/espn3...its only 3 games but it does bother me
the money issue- logistically i want us to have 6mil plus..but its not like any of us are touching the money or even feeling the impact of it as fan...

This is me. You will be hard pressed to find a Memphis fan who would not leave any situation, no matter how good it is, to join the SEC if they came calling. But that is merely because of regional rivals State, Ole Miss, and TN.
Short of the SEC, we would probably easily turn down the BigXII or the ACC if our TV money were on par with those conferences, we had legal autonomy like those, and we had the NY6 bowl tie-in (even if we had to create it, so, a NY7). IOW, if the AAC becomes P6 for real. As far as the Pac or the BigX, I doubt those as possibilities so much, I don't even care to consider them.
This conference is becoming GREAT. I like it more and more every year. Just need them dolla bilz.

This and a major bowl tie in
Yes indeed. I like the conference. I just wish we had a better tv contract and better bowl tie-ins.

The Conference would need to invite Southern Mississippi.

I would echo what a lot have already said, and add that the league would need to be seriously improved in basketball for UC to shun the Big 12 for example.
But I'll admit the conference has grown on me. Some really quality building blocks. It just seems the league can't put it all together, probably mainly due to the lack of resources.

RE: At what point would you be content with AAC
Conference has grown on me and I think its quality.
But we have no natural rivals.
If we had a contract bowl and were making $10-15mil/team/year I'd be fine with the AAC, rival thing aside.
personally, I'd rather go to the ACC than the B12....that gets us back to at least playing Cuse, Pitt, and our long time rival University-6.
I would only take the B12 for money/bowl purposes. Otherwise, I have no desire to be in that conference.

10 million per year and not playing in unoccupied mausoleums. Some of you really need to step up the crowd in football and basketball.

RE: At what point would you be content with AAC
Members of this conference (except Navy) will never be content with remaining here because they are too ambitious—which is a primary reason why they were selected to join a rebuilding Big East/AAC. If ESPN offered us $10 Mil per school but required a GOR, I doubt every school would agree to it. Schools in this conference will wait to see what happens with the B12, especially after its recent expansion fiasco. Consequently, the experience of being considered for membership by the B12 is too compelling for certain schools to remain content with this conference. Furthermore, let’s be honest about this conference: It was assembled out of necessity by UC, UCONN, and USF. Those three schools will “never” be content with remaining in this conference after experiencing “true power” status….
