Agreed, but “if” is the biggest two letter word in the dictionary. I’m not here to defend the indefensible. I’m here to defend my school’s fanbase against potentially false allegations without proof of the allegations. We live in a country where the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty, I’m simply saying “where’s the proof” of these seriously disparaging allegations?

I (would like to) think that people are sports fans because of the competition, and most of us played these sports as kids (or at least through high school) and thus appreciate the games being played at their highest level. But this crap has to end. We're like one step from being the storied soccer hooligans from England.

And we wonder why some people don't like going to games any more...

Walking through The Gamecocks parking lot after a game is ugly. Lots of rude obnoxious fans. Went. To two UCF games there and I felt intimidated both times...

And their stadium smells like piss. Watching Clemson/ USC last night my daughter notices the stadium and just out of the blue tells everyone that the place smells like pee. She complained the entire time of the smell the last time we were there. LOL

I don’t believe you about the “where’s mommy and daddy” comments. I’ve heard from multiple usf fans on our message board who talked about their experiences and were quite surprised about the civility displayed between the fan bases. Where is the proof of this? Surely if it happened someone recorded it on their cell phone. Do you have personal knowledge of this or is this merely hearsay? Bring us proof or it appears you’re just trying to stir the pot after a devastating loss to a rival. So many people can just make up crap on the internet without a scintilla of evidence. Where is the evidence? You know like the video of Quinten Flowers “jerking off” on the UCF fan base after scoring a 4th quarter touchdown to take the lead in the game. Are you as appalled by the actions of a representative of your own school done before a national TV audience?

First, no excuse for Flowers doing what he did. And I tried my best to make sure I couched this in terms of pointing out that EVERY fan has their share of jerks. But there have been a number of claims of this:

I agree we All need to police our fans. I still don’t believe the “mommy and daddy” thing. It is so easy for fabrications to be spread through social media today, this should be undisputed. I’m Pointing out that “if” it did happen there is likely some proof of it. Each of us carry cell phones with us wherever we go, do you honestly expect objective people to believe that occurred and it wasn’t recorded by someone? You never did answer by question about personal knowledge, therefore I’m going to presume you have none. Can you even tell us what section the offending comments came from? I will point out that it is more likely to be a false rumor started by a butthurt sore loser. This is what rival fan bases do to denigrate and vilify the other fan base.

You're correct - I didn't go to the game, and have heard this from others. I therefore can't vouch for its accuracy other than to say that people I trust well told me they heard it. I don't blame you if you have your doubts, but I believe them.

Believe it or not, my purpose wasn't to use this whole thing to denigrate UCF or their fans. I'm seriously disgusted by crappy fans from any fan base, and I readily admit that there are some who root for USF, too. I yelled at some of our fans when we were in Birmingham for our bowl game vs. ECU because some were being jerks to ECU fans. I've never personally been subjected to anything more than fairly harmless banter by fans of any school.

I do believe you that your purpose was not to denigrate UCF’s fanbase. I also agree with the larger premise that out of control fans need to be kept in check by their own fan base.

Everything I noticed was great behavior between fans. That is the first time I can say this about our rivalry. There were USF fans sprinkled in across the stadium. Everyone seemed to be having fun. No drunk fights, no idiots, etc that I noticed at all. Maybe because the tickets were going for over $200 as the cheapest ticket?
