Blazer Almanac - Three Ranked teams and two Embarrassing losses
November 26

UAB plays Mississippi College today. The two teams have never met.

UAB football
Football is 0-2 in games played on this date.

**In 2005, the Blazers closed the 2005 season with a 31-23 loss at East Carolina. The loss kept the Blazers from becoming bowl eligible and they finished the season 5-6.

**In 2011, UAB suffered a very embarrassing loss to end the season. The Blazers were optimistic, riding a two game win streak including #22 Southern Miss. However in this game, they lost 38-35 to a previously winless FAU team. UAB finished the season 3-9. This game was Neil Callaway's last game as a head coach.

UAB Basketball
The Blazers are 3-5 in games played November 26. They are 2-1 in home games this date. UAB has played games in Puerto Rico, Anchorage, Alaska, New York City, Little Rock, Arkansas and the Bahamas on this date. It's also interesting that UAB has faced two NBA All Stars on this date.

**1982 - UAB hosted Auburn in the very first game between the two schools. The game was played before a sellout crowd at the BJCC on the eve of the Alabama Auburn football game in Birmingham, which would also be Bear Bryant's last regular season game. Even though the basketball game was tight, Auburn fans ignored the basketball game and chanted "We Want Bama" as the clock wound down. Led by Charles Barkley's 15 points and 9 rebounds, the Tigers won 63-61.

1983 - UAB beats Baptist 73-55
1985 - UAB beats Missouri Baptist 94-52

**1994 - UAB lost to 95-90 in overtime to American Puerto Rico in the Puerto Rico Shootout. This was the only loss ever to a Division 2 team and the first time ever that UAB started the season 0-2.

**1997 - UAB lost 92-64 to #8 Purdue in the Great Alaskan Shootout. This Shootout featured all previous champions and UAB was included because they had won in 1984. Murry Bartow was the first player to return to the shootout as a head coach.

**2008 - After winning two games in Arizona, the Blazers advanced to the Final Four of the Preseason NIT. It was a rough trip to the Big Apple. The Blazers had their baggage stolen off the street as they were waiting to board a bus. Plus they went 0-2 in the basketball games. On this date, they lost to #11 ranked Oklahoma 77-67. They had no answer for Blake Griffin who scored 32 points and had 15 rebounds.

2010- UAB and Arkansas faced off in Little Rock on this date. The game was a classic that UAB won in overtime 70-65.

2014 - UAB played another ranked team on this date in 2012. This time it was #2 Wisconsin to open the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. UAB lost 72-43. It was the fewest points coached by a Jarod Haase team and the 8th fewest points ever scored by a UAB team.
