Well, you said "proven", so I guess that eliminates Garrick McGee after Lovie fires him.

RE: Ray Watts
Ball control on offense cuts down our defense's time on the field. That has to be one goal. Our O-line is 4 guards and a tackle. They are more built for run blocking than pass protection, that's got to be another reason. And even with 45-50 rushes on Saturday, we had an almost equal number of yards passing.

So yeah, i suspect our 3 yards at a time run game is by design. I just wish we had an occasional toss sweep, and at least one series in the first half that could be 50/50 pass & run. We don't throw enough to be good at anything but a controlled passing game. Which is very bad if we ever get more than 2 scores behind.

McGee is a proven, indeed exceptional, clipboard holder.

Ohio has a very good rushing defense. If we don't pass enough to loosen things up it will be a long day. An occasional pass on first down wouldn't hurt anything either.

Do we really want an OC that was fired mid-season at South Alabama? (If that is who you were referring to).

You won't find many here taking Joey's side on anything. Jones got a 2 year stay on being fired from UaB transfers. Vincent did a good job here and was a miracle worker at USA.

You may be on to something. I just finished some quick research, and we have regressed offensively from 2014 in both total offense and scoring offense.

The Blazerman posted it first.

He would be correct then. We weren't as predictable in 2014. Les does seem like a good QB coach though. I like what he has done with Erdely.

Does Les have the weapons we had in 2014 though?

We don’t have anyone to stretch a Defense right now. Ubosi seems to be the fastest.

RE: Ray Watts
Debatable.........probably a little better OL & QB's in 2017, but no JJ Nelson, Josh Magee or Everett. Les also has a luxury of a better defense than what we had in 2014. The defense in 2017 has been better in scoring and total defense than 2014.....more sacks, more INT's and more TFL's.

Everett wasn't even the best TE on that team. It was Backman. And I'd rate Cody Clements pretty equal to AJ.

Backman was a better blocker, for sure, Everett probably had a little more WR in him.........was a 2nd round draft pick. Yeah, Clements was really good when he was well.

If that was who I was referring to, rumor is that he has been hanging around here lately.

RE: Ray Watts
I was more impressed with the 2014 offense overall.

This year was great & Erdley & Brown & Wilson were very very good.

We just didn't give a rip about putting Lisa in the game unless it was 3rd & long.

Donnie Lee did have some very good moments as well.

Lester tried to go against the opponents weakness too much instead of going with our strength.

Didn't play Lisa hardly against Florida. Tried to pass the damn ball too much when we could have pounded it.

Vincent has been spotted around the Football-Complex a lot here lately. Not sure if it means anything or not, but he was well liked here. Maybe Les can get the Rice or UTEP job, being from Texas and all.
