They had great attendance and a great game last year. If we were talking the Alamo bowl...I get it. But I can be in Fort Worth as quickly as anyone from San Antonio can.

Exactly. LA Tech traveled over 20K fans to 2016 AF Bowl, the 2015 NO Bowl and the 2014 HOD Bowl. Proven commodity.

Actually...I can be there quicker. I just looked it up.

I’m not wanting to say you’re lying, but y’all barely get 20k in your stadium most weeks. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that there’s a large portion of fan bases that only go to the bowl game, but that seems like a very large # comparatively.

Your response makes no sense. LA Tech can travel a lot more people to the Indy Bowl than UTSA can/will. That means more $$$ with a LA Tech appearance. Just saying....

USM would go to Indy before Tech. Your best bet is NO but I have a feeling UAB ends up there.

Serious question. Why is that? Why would the Indy Bowl want USM and their 5K to 8K fans as opposed to the traditional 30K or 40K LA Tech brings to the Indy? LATech's last 2 appearances in the Indy Bowl brought 48K (for Maryland) and 41K (for Northern Illinois). Just asking....

It's well documented, including right here on this CUSA board. I'm not going to waste time looking it up for you. You are going to have to do that homework yourself.

Because they’re so much better than us. Beating us in double overtime after the whole field goal, onside kick, TD, 2 pt conversion in a minute deal.

I believe they were the backup plan if we lost today.

RE: Bowls, who gets left out?
Just for closure of the Georgia Tech situation, this was posted online from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

http://www.myajc.com/sports/college/all-...H5cUhe36L/

Georgia Tech officially was removed from bowl contention Saturday after the Yellow Jackets lost to Georgia and its route as a five-win team was blocked later in the day.

Tech could have earned a bowl berth the conventional way by upsetting No. 7 Georgia for its sixth win, but lost 38-7. With the school’s attempts to find a 12th game for next week exhausted after an extensive effort, as confirmed by school spokesman Mike Flynn, that left only the possibility of getting into a bowl as a five-win team in the event of a shortage of bowl-eligible teams.

However, there won’t be any room for Tech as a five-win team. Five-win teams have a chance for a bowl slot only if there aren’t enough bowl-eligible teams, and all 78 bowl slots became filled by Saturday evening.

Tech had the possibility of applying to the NCAA for a waiver on the grounds that it was 5-6 and couldn’t find a 12th game. The Jackets’ Sept. 16 game against Central Florida was canceled because of Hurricane Irma, and the school made efforts to find a replacement game, but was unable.

However, the waiver would have been considered only if there were a shortage of bowl-eligible teams, according to Football Bowl Association executive director Wright Waters. In that case, a waiver would have placed Tech ahead of 5-7 teams in the NCAA’s order of teams to be selected in case of a shortage. (For instance, teams that are 6-6 with two wins over FCS teams and teams that finish 6-7 are considered ahead of 5-7 teams.)

UAB will be in Bocca or Bahamas. Most likely Bahamas.

Good for the kids but I prefer seeing FIU in the Bahamas and FAU in Boca.

Same for ODU, Rice and Charlotte as they combined for 5 CUSA wins, none of which kept a CUSA team from bowl eligibility.

LT was fighting for bowl eligibility last night (at home mind you) and they had 38 fans in the stands...that is terrible. That carries a helluva lot more weight in the bowl rep's eyes than the # of LT fans brought to a bowl game in years past. LT better pray there were not any reps at their game last night.

RE: Bowls, who gets left out?
Oh come on...

I like to hate on our attendance as much as anyone, but the truth is that our quarter break games always have crap attendance. The only one I’ve seen break that trend was the 2012 Utah State game. If Tech goes to NOLA or Indy, you’ll see a huge Tech following, just like every other bowl game.

The team isn’t very good. I love my team as much as anybody, but i don’t travel 5 hours each way and spend hundreds of dollars on my valuable weekends for the sake of donation - that’s what LTAC is for. I travel to see games for the sake of entertainment.

I’m not going to begrudge fans for staying home, and G5 fans knocking each other for not being devoted enough is getting old. The same devotion to crappy football doesn’t seem to be required of P5 fans.

RE: Bowls, who gets left out?
And the % of our crowd that goes hunting during deer season must lead the nation. That coupled with quarter break and Thanksgiving = garbage attendance, even with our winning teams. If we scrape 15-18k for that home game, we are having a good season.
