ODU comes in 4-1 to include wins over Dayton and Towson.

Tribe has won 5 of the last 6 in the series.

Will be a tough game though a great opportunity if we can pull this one out.

Seems like our boards have been in a tryptophan induced coma. No ODU thread until the day of?

Anyway, if there's one team I want to beat this season, and every season, it's the Monarchs. Hopefully Knight is 100%. Tony had said he was a bit under the weather and ODU always rebounds well.

We will definitely have to control the Stith boys. BJ, a 6'5" guard, averages 11.8 ppg and 5 rpg, while Brandon, a 6'7" forward, scores 7.4 ppg and pulls down 6.2 rpg. 6'2"
guard Ahmad Caver is tops at 13 ppg, while 6'10" F/C Trey Porter is one of 4 players pulling down 5 or more rebounds per game. They are not a great 3 point shooting team, with BJ Stith tops at 38.5 %. One key weakness, they shoot only 65% from the line.
They are good defensively, allowing only 58.8 ppg, while getting 13.4 turnovers, including 6 steals, per game.


This is probably our first legitimate test of comparable strength (UCF, at their place, was always going to be a tough nut). We'll have to protect the ball and hope that three point spree, from last game, has gotten all out shooters into a grove (they allow 8 3's per game, would like to see us get twice that many tonight).

And I’m personally not very very optimistic about tonight ...

BUT ...

I never thought I would see the day where ODU would treat a game in Williamsburg as anything other than a tuneup.

That is tangible progress, not to be taken lightly and not to be confused with drinking Kool-Aid.

As usual when playing ODU, don't let them get to the hoop, do a decent job on the glass, and let them shoot 3s is the recipe for success on defense.

I think W&M beat ODU once in my 4 years there. Having a winning streak over them is hard to comprehend.

So far this year (yes, still very early) ODU's offense has been middling but their defense has been strong.

Just not getting the ball to an open man. Very good defense by ODU.

The "best of the season shooting" is mainly because the man to man is completely ineffective. Zone is a little better, but then they are out-jumping us for long rebounds.

26 points in the paint is crazy. They haven't hit a 3 pointer. Rebounds 17-9 favor of ODU.

ODU shooting 57% from the field.

Feel like the refs have been a bit annoying, but that’s not why we are losing. We just don’t have a way to stop their athleticism. The Guard Stith has also has a lot of lucky rolls.

This is very doable still if we can find an offense.
