Virginian Pilot’s, Bob Molinaro, “Big Props to Little Team in Harrisonburg”
Link to article in today’s Virginian Pilot. I think Molinaro is a begrudging reporter, but “Best football program in the Commonwealth” is just good reporting!

I am so lost on that article. He started talking VA football, then transitioned into general FBS, then rolled into Lavar Ball/Peyton Manning pop culture. I know it's a weekly rundown but strange way of doing it. Nice to see more and more shout outs in Virginia publications though.

Molinaro is an ODU homer, as is the Pilot. This is the closest thing to praise we will get in Hampton Roads. It read like a badly pieced together edit job. I wonder what happened to the other 2/3 of the JMU piece?

The headline itself is demeaning “Little Team” , but this is the best article I’d expect from an ODuh town rag. We would beat them like a drum on the field.

I'd appreciate this article more if it wasn't done by a "little paper". Learn to write an article and maybe I'll take the compliment seriously.
At least he used the term "juggernaut" so that's nice.

I don't mind or blame ODU reporters taking shots at us, helps keep some semblance of rivalry alive. This is like Mr T calling out Rocky, they know we're going up against lesser opponents and want to continue competing against us. Maybe if Mickey (Bourne) and Adrian (Alger) quit sheltering us we can reach our full potential.

“Little paper” lmfao: nice!
Stopped my subscription to this paper years ago. Picked it up out of my Parent's driveway. They forgot to stop delivery before they went out of town.

That title seems like a rather left handed compliment.

RE: Virginian Pilot’s, Bob Molinaro, “Big Props to Little Team in Harrisonburg”
Three things:

1. Molinaro himself would not have written that headline. A copy editor or page designer comes up with the headlines at a paper that size. Anyone who read more than a few Molinaro columns would know that he'd never use the word "props" on his own. Not his voice. (I would not have gone that direction had I been tasked with writing that headline, but I see where they were going with the contrast of big and little. Might have been better suited for a column about a D3 school like RU though ...)
2. That's the Weekly Briefing, a hodgepodge column he's written since the 80s. A bunch of bulletpoints with varying degrees of snark. Stream of consciousness, though nowhere near as wacky as the late, great Caught on the Fly published in The Sporting News.
3. Molinaro is many things, but one thing he is not is an ODU homer. There are still many fans on the ODU board angry at him for a column in 2011, midway through the Monarchs' first year in CAA Football, that they wouldn't win a single conference game that season.
