It all boils down to coaching. Boise State built their brand over an extended period of time because you didn't consistently have your coach poached. Now that they have the brand, they get the benefit of the doubt more often. You consistently start in preseason rankings or get votes. Thats a head start and these preseason ranking are complete bullcrap to begin with, see FSU. I don't care what the hell the committee says, they hear the noise, the media, and the polls. Even back in the BCS, polls were part of the formula.
Really?
Houston Nutt - Arkansas
Dirk Koetter- Arizona State
Dan Hawkins - Colorado
Chris Petersen - Washington
IMO that's a lot of poaching.
Petersen stuck around far longer than most successful non-P5 coaches do. The only other exceptions are Patterson and Whittingham when they were in the MWC.
I mean Scott Frost will be the first coach to be poached from UCF right? Have any AAC teams had 4 coaches poached by P5 schools?
Does it matter? Peterson put you on the map.

You are the person saying the AAC had a lot of coaches poached and BSU didn't. Just proving a point.

No, I don't think USF will be ranked. I think they should be somewhere between 20-25.

Without consistency at the HC position, no program will be able to sustain success at a very high level. BSU was sort of the exception to the rule.
