Rice vs Ole Miss
it was kind of a “Dog Day Afternoon” at the pool here in Vegas. Hopefully we can avoid having a dog of a game.

Monday night Seth came in to watch and talked with JP. Today Carlin Hartman had a tweet with a picture of him and Seth at the Portland airport as OU is in a tournament there. Seth is no longer playing but working near where he grew up.

Ole miss leading scorer has 3 fouls half way through the first. If we could hit some shots we could put some serious pressure on them.

So, um.... Are we using this thread?

Rice is playing well enough so far, but Ole Miss is very cold. Rice is up 25-21; Cashaw is leading the charge, and he is clearly our best player.

RE: Rice vs Ole Miss
Shots are starting to fall for Ole Miss, and Rice has blown a couple of open opportunities. Ole Miss is now up 31-27.

Rice has to be careful not to lose focus right now. The Owls dealt well with defensive pressure early, but that might be starting to change...

Rice is getting open shots, but they aren't dropping. Ole Miss is up 40-30 with 1:00 left in the first half.

Rice is 4/14 from 3. Most were wide open.

Edit: I’m behind but that percentage is only getting worse.

Rice gets a couple of buckets to make this interesting. 40-35 at the half.

I don't know how good Ole Miss really is, but Rice certainly does not look overmatched. I like the way Pera is running his rotation.

They are 3-1 so far and made the QF of the NIT last year, so not amazing but no slouch either it seems.

Good to see us hold our own.

Agreed. We hung in there against a quality team. Bishop very active on the boards, but I wish he'd be more aggressive offensively. He's getting his shot; he simply has not been taking it, save for the season-opening game.

Need to take better care of the ball and at the line but a solid half. Agree about Pera’s sub patterns. More energy from the team.

Got the local to find E$PNU at fhe half. Encouraged by the score but not so much by the play coming out of same.

Basically any set we run on offense is working. Shots just not falling

Rice needs to make shots. The players are doing enough work to get good looks, but they aren't falling for the most part.

Rice is now down by thirteen.

I'm convinced that Rice runs their set plays the way they do in practice. Problem is, their opponnents are faster than we are.

Agree with the comments above. If we made more of our open shots this would be a much closer game.

We've lost our patience, and the game is opening up. Turnovers, bad shots leading to fast breaks, etc.

Ole Miss is now up 18.

Our shots have been wide open tonight. Just missing good looks and they aren’t.
