Can anyone on our team dunk? We’ve missed close to 10 layups.

95-68 final. Kept them under 100, at least!

Utah beat Ole Miss, so we'll face the Rebels on Wednesday ... 7pm Pacific (9pm Central).

I attended and bet on rice only because I couldn't do otherwise despite knowing it was gonna be a blowout, well it was only 10. Their center was eating us uip, then defense couldn't extend out to try to stop him and they had a lot of uncontested threes. Another guy had 10+ rebounds in the first half. Played hard the whole game just overmatched and don't have the offense to keep in a high scoring game. This year won't be as bad as Braun's last 2 years, likely similar to rhoades first.

I guess this definitively answers the question about whether Rice has the man-power to defend against a center who was a consensus 5-star, top-10 national recruit (with offers from Kansas, among many others). Nope. Still, I would like to think a good game plan could have kept it closer.

RE: Rice v UNLV
I've been able to watch all of our games except for the Northwestern game so let me offer some(10) thoughts:

1. This is a very young team. It's not just the freshman, but really only Connor and Bishop have had extensive playing time in the past.
2. Ako has really improved his game tremendously and that is very encouraging.
3. I like the development I am seeing from Robert Martin. I like his game and his aggressiveness.
4. I am glad Tim Harrison took some shots last night. I believe he was 3-8 from 3pt and he made their center come out to guard. I'll take 3-8 from 3pt range every night from him if possible.
5. I really like our freshman Najja Hunter and Malik Osborne. I like their energy and they are improving every game. They will be important contributors by the end of the season.
6. AJ Lapray's shot is starting to look sharp.
7. Connor is a consistent and steady presence and we need that badly as a team.
8. I'm a little disappointed in what i have seen so far from Austin Meyer and Bishop. I really want Bishop to have a Seth Gearhart-like senior season and I hope that he can. I'd like to see Austin Meyer get more aggressive inside and have more presence.
9. I like that Coach Pera is playing more guys and spreading the minutes around. I think we will reap the rewards of that later in the season. Last year I felt like some of the guys didn't get enough time and it hampered their development.
10. This team doesn't know how to win yet. This is a lot like Rhoades' 2nd year where we had talent(Evans and Egor) but early in the season we let mediocre teams like Cal and USF push us around. I think/hope this will change as the season continues.

Pretty much matches my thoughts. Bishop isn’t aggressive enough when it comes to scoring. He seems to get discouraged too easily for a guy we know can shoot. Austin Meyers has the potential to be our best big man in awhile but he just hasn’t had his head in the game. Some dumb fouls. He’s quicker and more coordinated than Drone but he isn’t showing it yet. Last night is a bad example going against a bigger more talented guy but I expect him to post up a lot in conference and be way more aggressive on rebounds. Hopefully he steps it up and shows he wants the minutes.

AJ showing maturity. Rough shooting in game #1 but kept taking the shots he knows he can make. Looked smooth last night.

Guy from penn looks like he will just fill some minutes.

Hunter is a little long with his dribble and looks a little shell shocked by the college game like Ako was last year but you can see the potential. Same with Osbourne.

Ako and Martin are the most improved players.

A+ for Cashaw. Steady like always.

UTA might be the best team we'll play apart from Texas Tech.

I realize that it's early to be totally sold on rankings, but Pomeroy has UTA at #87, with Wednesday's opponent, Mississippi, at #58. Texas Tech is #18.
