In gambling we call it variance. The more shots that are taken, NIU will regress to their season average.

I think its becoming apparent though, defense is this team's ultimate weakness. quite a change from what we are used to.

Doubtful, but Im sure a tshirt would be made you could add to your collection of great boneyard FCS victories.

NIU season stats: .469fg, .321 from 3pt, .706ft, 11.2 turnovers, 9.2 assists and getting out rebounded by 7 a game. Rebounding and guarding the 3 is this teams problem.

You don't think that averaging 9 assists per game is a major issue? The offense is garbage. I don't care how many points they score against these bad teams in November.

Its not great stats, but if you look at that offensive slashline from dekalb222 its not abysmal. Defensive stats by comparison are much more alarming.

First off this tournament had MAC and better quality teams. Second, yes it would be better to average more assists. It also would be better and lead to more wins if they were rebounding and defending the three better. German takes the ball and drives to the basket so assists will be down with this team. That’s a good sign they showed some heart and desire and will be heading back feeling good about themselves.

There's a difference between assists being down and ranking 300+ in assists per game. Hopefully they'll get better at distributing the ball, otherwise they'll be another road game one and done in the MAC tourney. Glad they salvaged one victory on that trip.

At least we have someone that can drive to the basket. Some years we didn't even have that.
