Have not watched in some time, and I don't miss it. There are plenty of sports and movies on this Thanksgiving.

Love that all the people complaining about the NFL are largely the same people who have been calling others "snowflakes" for the last few years. Now they're all crying over something that has nothing to do with the game itself while our unAmerican president tries to borrow a page from his buddy "Rocketman" by trying to force citizens into compulsory shows of patriotism.

Looking forward to turkey and football tomorrow.

Gotta love the irony don’t you.

True.

I haven't shown interest in the NFL for years and this year I've gone out of my way to watch as many games as possible.

Good for you.

Ratings are still down.

Better get your friends to help out.

The NFL will still be here long after you and I are dust in the wind.

Football and Thanksgiving are wonderful American traditions.

It is beyond me how anyone would stop watching simply because a few players kneel before the game even starts.

Sad.

For one thing I never attended the the univ of NFL. Never set foot on an NFL campus. I have never cared for the NFL and their weird football fans. Men wearing jerseys and getting drunk in a bar on Sunday to watch a bunch over over paid dimwits play a game. Nah. I'm way ahead of the curve on this one.

Yea, I think it’s called the players are actually appreciative that they’re out there, playing a kids game for a free (or partial) education, or just cause they love it.

I’ll admit to succumbing to RedZone on some sundays.
Its not all that often, as a long suffering Vikings fan, I even have a reason to watch.

But this season so far has been pretty remarkable. Reminds me of Bad new bears or Major League or something. Looking at this crowd on paper NO ONE would have guessed they’d be where they are.

After 45 or so years of frustration I’d hate to tune out and miss out over some doosh like Casperdick.

I just say F}%^ him, and them, that’s all

RE: Who here has turned off nfl football, and will it stick w Thanksgiving games?
I don't watch the NFL because I find it boring. It combines the two worst elements of American society--mass violence and committee meetings--sometimes long committee meetings. I prefer the continuous action of rugby and soccer.

I respect the players' right to protest, however they see fit, but I reject the basis for their protests. We do not have systemic racism in this country. We just don't. We have some isolated one-off incidents, but many that are portrayed as such turn out in the end not to be.

But I will repeat the question from above. Now what? Okay, you got our attention, now what do you want to do about it? Just keep protesting indefinitely, or actually take steps to solve what you see as a problem?

That's where I tend to doubt the sincerity of some of the protests. Do they really understand the issues, or is this just a trendy way to get the focus onto me, me, me?

(Not that I was much of a fan previously, but there was rarely a weekend in which I didn't watch at least one quarter of some tedious game.)
That’s been my status, as well.

I watched so little NFL even before, that I can’t honestly say I’m “boycotting” the protests, or anything like that. More like, my NFL-curiosity-level has gone from 2% to 0%.

When I was a kid (70s/80s) my Dad had the NFL on every Sunday during the season (no exceptions, unless we were out of the house), and we drove to a couple of Saints games each season as a family. My personal interest continued into the ‘90s and began to fade about 15 years ago.

Now I’m the one with young kids, and even though the Falcons are close by with their new stadium (and it is a masterpiece, no denying it), I don’t have even the slightest interest to check it out, or to watch the games on TV. There are lots of reasons for that, and the flag/anthem/protest stuff is by no means the biggest reason, but it just adds another layer of boredom and bullsh!t to an activity that I had already mostly tuned-out.

I'm not like some of the posters here. I'm not a Welsher. I've stuck to my integrity of not watching the Nfl until they change their ways. The Commish needs to go... and not in an Nfl private plane.

I didn't watch any football either. And it's not JUST because of the stupid protest. It's been losing it's appeal for several years. That was just the final straw.

I haven’t watched much NFL in years because I find it boring. Someone once described American football as combining the two worst elements of US society—mass violence and committee meetings. And the committee meetings have become too prevalent, too long, and absolutely too boring to watch. Plus I grew up on 7-3 SEC football games, so I like good defense, and 52-49 just doesn’t do it for me.

Not sure if the commissioner has anything to do with it, but I must note that I was an NFL fan during the Rozelle years, my interest waned in the Tagliabue years, and I've pretty much lost interest in the Goodell years.

The ‘message’ is you’re a leftist who hates America, don’t try to sugarcoat it into anything more than that. And Kaepernick’s actions on Thanksgiving also prove that.

Social Justice Warrior Kaepernick Participates In ‘Unthanksgiving Day’ On Alcatraz

Quote:Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, took part Thursday in the annual Unthanksgiving Day on Alcatraz.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Kaepernick made the surprise appearance at the event that commemorates the nine-month occupation of the prison by Native American activists from 1969-1971.

“Our fight is the same fight,” Kaepernick told the crowd, in a message he posted on Twitter. “We’re all fighting for our justice, for our freedom. And realizing that we are all in this fight together makes us all the more powerful.”[…]

The 89 activists who occupied the prison demanded that it be turned into an American Indian cultural center and school, the report said. The event is called the Indigenous People’s Sunrise Gathering.
