Two powerhouses will collide in the arena when Cincinnati meets Wyoming, and as far as Wyoming is concerned, I have no sympathy for what's about to happen.

This will be total domination. A lopsided portrait of basketball devastation that no sport has ever seen. I don't believe that Wyoming will even want to play.

They'll be better if they don't.

But with a basketball game like this, there can be no lingering doubt in its aftermath who the greatest basketball team of all time is.

It's Cincinnati.

Wyoming will be their latest victim.

And they will be pulverized.

The road to the championship runs through Cincinnati. Cincinnati.

I was 10 years old when the Bearcats played Wyoming. I forget where my family was driving home from, but with the Bearcats down 9 and less than 2 minutes to go, my dad turned off the radio in the car. I was really mad at him, but he refused to put it back on, he got too stressed when they were down like that late. We pull into the garage and I run into the house. Turn on the TV in time to see Durden get fouled attempting a last second 3... TO WIN THE FREAKING GAME!. It was unreal.

Thanks to my dad who made me the Bearcat nut I am today, despite him not letting me listen to the insane comeback because he was too stressed and thought they had lost.

Also, "The Gunslinger" is the best Bearcat nickname ever.

Forgot that Durden made all three free throws with time expired to win it. Talk about ice in your veins.

How did we end up playing there at Wyoming? Was that the trade off for the Humanitarian bowl?

That game was from 93-94, so that was before the Humanitarian Bowl. Joby Wright was coaching Wyoming back then and had coached at Miami U. before that. IIRC he and Huggs were pretty tight so they probably scheduled the game.

Yep it was how Bob Goens ended our bowl drought. Bob was still the best AD we ever had.

I agree that Bob Goins was the best AD UC ever had. Not even close. But as Clifton mentions above, the time frame doesn't work. Plus the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl was played on the Smurf Turf in Boise against Utah State. Not sure if there would be a connection to Wyoming. Joby Wright makes sense.
