Quote:Its only significant for future seasons at it sets and artificial ceiling that will make it "appear" the committee is being fair and reasonable (and it will be given its past biased behavior) when it takes a true top 4 G5 and ranks them #10. BTW--thats what I think they would have done with Houston last year had they won out (well, maybe they might put them to #8--but nowhere near #4).

I think Houston could very well have made the playoffs if they had won out AND had Louisville beaten Clemson (which they nearly did) and finished in the CFP top 10. In that case, I think Houston makes the playoffs over Washington.

Second, there's no way to spin #14 vs #15 as some kind of big difference in ceiling. That one spot just doesn't mean anything, practically or ideologically, now or the future. It's just one position far away from anything that matters.

Not to mention that the CFP does have a defensible reason for the ranking. MSST has lost to a murderer's row of teams while UCF has played a very soft schedule. As another poster said, the CFP probably focuses its analytical attention on what matters, namely the top 10, so it's not surprising that they sometimes make errors beyond that. And if they do, no harm in correcting it next week despite creating the appearance of 'inconsistency'.

Houston would not have gotten in. Not with the way this committee ranks.

Secondly, lets take a look at MS State's wins.

Charleston Southern 5-5 FCS
LSU 8-3
La Tech 5-6
BYU 3-9
Kentucky 7-4
Texas A&M 7-4
UMass 4-7, only 11 points
Arkansas 4-7, only a last second touchdown

Their only good win was LSU. 2 of their losses was a combined 80-13 drubbing. They had a close loss to Alabama, so we are gonna count that as a win now? There is no way to spin their resume, but the committee can do what they please in a back room.

On the whole 14/15 thing...... not only are you narrow minded, you are simple minded as well. One or two spots shafted each week adds up. And their inconsistencies screw P5 teams as well.

No point in arguing anymore. The sky is not blue in your world. 07-coffee307-coffee307-coffee3

Oh and by the way, Go Knights 03-nutkick
