What have I done

ODU's quidditch team is basically at the NAIA level. They are not eligible for the national championship.

(My sister was the president of the JMU quidditch club last school year so I know more about this than I should))

Tuesday is “Giving Tuesday”, so I think we’re onto something now.

Yea its probably the #monarchmatch $50k match. I got the letter today from odaf.... The Rise to Prominence.

Not as sexy as I had hoped to hear exciting news coming but there still could be as odaf wont know what the match donation amount until at the end of the year.

It runs through the end of the year so all donations are tax deductible, and thanks to a donor's generosity all gifts up to $50K will be matched.

The way I read the promotion was that a donor has agreed to match the TOTAL of all donations up to 50K, as opposed to matching individual donations up to 50K?
So between now and the end of the year, how much can ODAF realistically expect to raise? I would think they'd be hard pressed to come up with anything close to 50K in that short of time. Max. they might raise would be 100K. While that's nothing to sneeze at, it's hardly earth shattering.
What am I missing?

ODAF has almost 2,500 donors I believe. While most of us here are likely giving somewhere from zero to $500.00 each year, I think you all would be surprised how many donors ODU has that give several thousand dollars each year. There are some pretty wealthy Monarch fans out there that help drive the ODAF fundraisers.

Correct... once you get through the wife, multiple kids, and extended family, I think most people are pretty much broke until March, lol.

Not for people looking to lower their taxable income for the year through donations.

I think donations can be made up to April 15th. Besides, if I don't have a spare $100.00 in December, I don't really care about tax Deductions. That's for the high rollers.

The major announcement will be a full refund is being made to all season ticket holders for both football and Men's basketball.

Seriously, wonder how this disaster of a weekend will effect contributions??

Firing the entire football and basketball coaching staffs.
