At least he is challenging and trying to block shots on the defensive end and getting up and down the court like a gazelle. He is even a three point threat, not hesitating to shoot the three, and drawing a "big opponent" out of the paint when he is out past the three point line which opens it up for our other big's to score and rebound. He also is not one to run up and down the middle of the court. He spreads out wide on fast breaks. Against Richmond, UAB scored zero fast break points. This team is not going to win any games at all by walking the ball up and down the court and playing half court ball.

If this team will get out and press, trap and run at every opportunity, it won't matter what our half court defense looks like. Rob needs a seminal moment right soon or else we're going to be within 3 games of .500 entering the CUSA tourney.

Also, you have to wonder if the lack of planning yesterday led to our very slow start ?

Per BlazerMatt, we barely got on the court to shoot warmups, which leads me to believe our guys got he the gym very late. Which also means the DOBO or coordinator for this trip dropped the ball on planning, or something happened to make them late. There could be lots of excuses here. It happens.

XCMA's first team had to stop for directions to get to Fogelman at Tulane IIRC, and XCMD's first trip to UTEP was scouted properly, but nearing game time, the team bus couldn't get past the cars parked & double parked on the one road to the gym.

And from my personal experience; When I was coaching my son's AAU team, if we were ever late to that first game of the day or the first game in that gym, we always shot poorly.

There are only 4 games that matter to get us into the NCAA tournament.
The rest of these games are irrelevant

The hell they are. The games that come before the conference tournament establish the mindset of the team, the roles, the rotation. Passive, low energy play in the games before the tournament become how the team plays. If you want those four wins, the best way to get them is to learn how to play winning basketball long before you get there.

I think Ehsan is too nice, too much a "player's coach". He needs a meanass old bulldog of a bench coach standing behind him, preferably one with a tough defensive mindset. Those guys should be afraid to come back to the bench when they are playing low energy slack ball because they know that they'll be called on it.

Hell, if they don't want to push hard, let them rest on the bench for a while. That's a tried and true coaching tactic.

This is a much better team than what they showed yesterday, and this nonsense needs to be corrected, the sooner the better.
Sorry. If not clear, my post was supposed to be dripping in(angry) sarcasm.
I assumed the first 2 sentences would’ve given that away

It wouldn't surprise me a great deal if the island vacation experience played into yesterday's lack of focus - or if those two losses and the resulting ass-chewings didn't contribute to Richmond's play.

So none of the schools that won yesterday had any Island vacation experiences.

Sorry I don't buy that.

It's more likely that like in previous years, the senior class men on this team start thinking they can take it easy because they blew someone out last week.

I agree, MB. Everything was equal for both teams.
Fail to plan, then plan to fail.
