A semifinal game with us hosting South Dakota State? Maybe Friday night prime time national TV for that one. We'll see...

The national TV games will be JMU and NDSU unless one gets knocked out early. It's always given to the top 2 seeds, even more so when those schools actually have a semblance of a fan base.

Then how did 5-SHSU at 4-JMU get a quarterfinal Friday night prime time spot last year when both 1-NDSU and 2-EWU were still alive?

They expected a competitive game from a team that was “ranked #1” and they know JMU shows well. Schools like Montana/UD/JMU/NDSU will be favored by TV over games at places like UCA. A SHSU at JSU game has a chance, but I doubt it wins out over a potentially competitive game at BFS, and our bracket has all the best teams really.

Saturday games are nice, but think the odds favor JMU being selected for the prime TV slot. At least half the selection show was about us, with the HCMH and Schor interviews.

Yes, not questioning the decision to put the Softies-Dukes game on last year. Turned out to be a blow out that the small percentage of folks who were watching nationally turned over pretty quickly...but, the ESPN folks who made that decision to broadcast it could have never expected that big of a woodshed beating. His comment was that the top 2 seeds always are selected for those Friday night games as if it is a rule or done deal for this year, when it simply isn't true.

I guess we'll see if ESPN thinks a potential JMU blowout of Southern Utah (or the like) or a NDSU ripping of an overmatched SoCon/CAA team will be more interesting to viewers than Softies-JaxSt. That, of course, assumes the Softies make it to the quarterfinals, which I don't think is any guarantee at all...far from it actually.

I just know I enjoy talking about playoff football in the postseason a zillion times more than soccer-mom'ish meaningless exhibition games where everybody gets a trophy and they hand out salt-free saltines and sugar-free kool-aid after the exhibitions to all the good little boys who participate. 01-wingedeagle

Yeah the two "prime" spots are not all going to just one school when both JMU and NDSU are in the mix. They'll split them in all likelihood.

Unfortunately, after going over it, I have 3/4 of the Semifinal teams as MVFC, which if it happens will strengthen the "omg, MVFC is the best" argument. Bracketing this year gives MVFC teams an easy path to run thru.

Unfortunately - two best CAA teams play each other early, and UD should have been in over UNH if we really wanted the "best" CAA teams in.

Without looking it up, I think the ESPN U game is on Saturday, right?

I could see us on ESPN U for the quarters and ESPN 2 for the Semifinal.

Edit: looks like only ESPN2/3 for the quarters, though they are showing 3 game times, 7:00pm/7:30pm/12:00, seems a bit odd. I’m guessing both the night time slots are on Friday, but maybe they will have a Saturday night game on ESPN2 also for the quarters this year?

I want the Friday night semifinal game. Gives fans a few extra hours to get available tickets and flight reservations before the other team is known for sure.

ESPN 2 is showing a Saturday FCS championship game on Dec 9th at noon.
Sweet, I want that quarterfinal slot!

They also have a Friday 7:00pm slot on ESPN2 for quarters.
Not sure why they also show a potential 7:30pm time, west coast games?

Not sure where else to put this, but CCSU suspends two players, including the QB.

I was thinking from 5 to 2.

I looked at the Massey odds, which I was admittedly shocked to see they had as high as a 22% chance of beating UNH. 5% is more accurate.

Versus has UNH 33-21 over CCSU
That doesn’t factor in the suspensions.

UNH should take this one, but won’t survive UCA. They are not a top CAA team this year. UD and RU were better, and our games with them reflected that too.
