Recruits are paying attention
EDGYTIM Article: Joseph Bonds

Chicago (IL) DeLaSalle three star ranked athlete recruit Joe Bonds (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) decided to give Northern Illinois University after making recent official visits to both Wyoming and NIU. Bonds, who was originally committed to Western Michigan discusses his decision here.

"I decided last week that I was ready to commit to Northern Illinois University," Bonds said. "I headed up to NIU on Friday and gave them my verbal commitment."

Bonds discussed his decision to pledge to the in-state NIU Huskies.

"I just really like the program at NIU and I feel like I'll be a great fit in that defense. NIU really caught my attention when they beat Nebraska and they seem to always find a way to beat a lot of the bigger teams. NIU also really never stopped recruiting me and they have always been staying on me. I've been able to build up a really strong relationship with several of the coaches at NIU. I just feel like I fit in well on the team and I already know a bunch of guys playing for NIU already. NIU just has a nice family feel and I feel at home at NIU."

Bonds , who was recruited by the NIU Huskies as an outside linebacker admits that staying closer to home was a big factor in his decision.

"I had a great official visit to Wyoming but the overall distance from home, especially for my parents was a big deal to me. It took a long time to get out there and now that I'm headed to NIU it's great for my friends and my family. I didn't think it would be a big deal when my recruiting first started but now I look back and it's definitely a big deal for me and my family."

Bonds, who plans to sigh with NIU in the December National Letter of Intent signing period is excited to join a growing NIU Huskies Class of 2018.

"Guys like J-Hall (H-F RB Justin Hall) and Jeff (H-F DL Jeff Griffin) have been talking up NIOU to me for awhile. I actually made my first visit to NIU with Justin Hall when they offered me. Seeing guys like Charles (Waubonsie Valley TE Charles Robinson) commit to NIU was definitely a big deal. NIU has a great signing class and I definitely wanted to be a part of this class."

Joe Bonds is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University.

All sounds good to me. Glad to hear the coaches are staying in close contact with wanted recruits.

RE: Recruits are paying attention
Our staff knows how to recruit, " they never really stopped recruiting me". We have had some real good defensive recruits last year and this year. Like to see how those FR LBs develop.
