And Dean Keener did so well too.

I'm sure you'd be pleased if we hired a rookie head coach for the football program to replace Mike Houston.

We don't need to be anybody's guinea pig any longer.

You're the arrogant one suggesting we all brush up on the program's history, "junior". Look, name calling and attitude don't get anyone anywhere. I'm merely suggesting you take a chill pill and sit back and watch what happens. There's no need to get ruffed up about being 1-3 at this point, or claim the program is in a death spiral. It's way premature. It's also unfair to hold a rookie coach to the expectation of a 15-year head coach. Let's see how the chips fall this year first.

Exactly! And, that "rookie coach" won 26 games in his first season. That's pretty good.

So much of this around here...

At Tennessee we call that kind "the fans on the hill". They're never happy and always find something to whine about no matter what.

I think we knew, or should have known, that this was a kind of rebuilding year. We got a couple of decent recruits but don't have that "superstar" (I personally think depending on one super player is a bad idea, but that's just me). Tori Harris looks like she'll be excellent once she shakes off the freshman jitters; her skills are solid, and she's extremely quick. I haven't seen enough of Ballard to evaluate her. We have a post presence that we didn't have last year, and it will improve when Ferguson becomes eligible in January. We have a coach who sat at the side of an up-and-coming WINNING DI coach and learned from him for a number of years. (Every HC has to start somewhere, FFS!) We have played a tougher schedule than most teams at our level do already and have two more tough teams (Villanova and Florida State) to face yet. It's not exactly a disaster to lose to a ranked team! And sometimes another team plays better than we do on any given day. But "death spiral"? Please get a grip!

PS. For those in doubt, that Marciszewski kid looks like she might be the second coming of P. Hall....and don't forget that Jackie Benitez, who will be eligible next year, shot the lights out for Siena. Learn to spell those names.

Feeding off the other thread, one of the other things I am thankful for is that we can disagree on these boards.....yet still be great supporters of our athletic teams. I am in the "we are going to do quite well this year" camp but I respect those who are not. Guess that comes from watching WBB at JMU for longer than many of you have been alive. I have seen the really good and the really bad and I have great confidence that our team will come together when it really counts.

Rebuilding is a good word to use. We're spoiled as we're used to reloading. I think we'll be fine regardless and I'm glad to see us sticking to the tough scheduling philosophy.
