I saw on your board a lot of positive reaction to Will Healy.
That was a name that intrigued me too, although we didn't take a look at him.

Supposedly, Healy was the first one who was interviewed by USA with more still to come. Healy is going to make some program a fine young coach on his way up to the big time. It may as well be us.

He is young but nothing but good so far at Austin Peay. Honestly I wish we would have snagged him at this point.

His name got posted on our boards as someone to look at. I don't think we interviewed him.
Doesn't look like it would be bad hire by any means. I'd take a proven HC with a long record of success vs an OC that's never run a program before.

RE: 2017 USA Coaching Search Master Thread
USA has vetted out a few options and our pecking order has changed a bit. A few new names are coming up, perhaps coaches putting their name out there as others have done, but nothing that I think is too serious.
I would be more than fine with Will Healy, but I question how accurate Feldman’s tweet is. I’m not against any of the FCS coaches that have been discussed, but my concern has been those who have a reliance on transfers (several do). Obviously it will be harder to do at the FBS level since transfers would have to sit out a year. But if those FCS coaches can manage that I am good with them. Head coaching experience is a plus for me.
As someone else mentioned, current DC Kane Wommack is a candidate. While I wasn’t sold on the idea when I first heard it, it might not be a terrible thing if he’s able to assemble a good staff - which money wise we should be able to put together.

A guy like Feldman doesn't just throw stuff out to put it out there.

That was my kind way of saying he’s wrong. Now, do you trust Feldman or Skully? :) I am not the AD and he is tight lipped about things, but it’s my opinion we have already agreed on a coach and are finalizing that process. Should be fast movement I would think. We will see.

I'm not saying either one of you are right or wrong.
But typically when a national CFB personality like that is saying something, it's not just because some random crazy fan (like we all have) is running their mouth on Twitter or something like that about who's going to get hired.
He very well could be proved wrong. Sometimes information gets released from an athletic department as part of a mole hunt to see who might be leaking. It's possible that's where the info came from. People do get misled intentionally to see what's going on. Hell, Tennessee could have saved themselves some trouble by leaking the Schiano news to gauge reaction....and that's why you're seeing a lot more transparency in what they're doing now.
