Blazer Almanac 11/18
November 18

** On this date in 2000, UAB went to West Point and defeated the US Army team 27-7.

** On this date in 2006, UAB lost at Southern Miss 25-20.

UAB Basketball
Basketball is 2-3 on this date.

** On this date In 1998, UAB traveled to Indiana to play the Hoosiers, coached by Bobby Knight and assisted by future UAB coach Mike Davis. Indiana was ranked #21. It was ugly. The Blazers lost 91-54. The 37 point loss is UAB's third worst ever, behind UNLV in 1990 (41 puts.) and Memphis in 2008 (38 points).

** On this date in 2006, UAB lost at Wyoming 93-87.

** On this date in 2007, the Blazers completed the Daytona Disaster in which they lost three games and Paul Delaney by losing to Rhode Island by the score of 74-69.

** On this date in 2008, Blazers competed in a more successful tournament by winning at Arizona in the Preseason NIT. UAB led most of the game, but Arizona went on an 11-4 run late in the game to tie the game at 71. The game appeared to be headed to overtime with 1 second on the clock. UAB inbounded the ball and as Paul Delaney heaved a desperation shot from mid court, he was inexplicably filed by an Arizona player. Delaney hit one of two free throws and UAB punched their ticket to New York City, winning 72-71.

** On this date in 2012, UAB defeated the United States Navy 82-63.

He was promoted to assistant coach in 2011. In May 2017, he joined Will Wade's LSU staff as an assistant and is in hist first year.

Besides Daytona and the preseason NIT, did we play in any other early season tournaments under Davis?
