any official or otherwise updates RE: Huff injury..? .and coach Carey bashing
Huff left game late being assisted off field..any word on nature of injury and likelihood of him playing @CMU?
as much as fans on forums in general luv to castigate their team's coach and Carey gets his share and then some...let me add this to his pluses and minuses

teams are most often directly a reflection of their coach,,,,and the Huskies have never wavered in face of adversity and found ways to win many games....they play hard most every down.... Like it or not: those traits reflect favorably on Carey...and I AM NOT suggesting he is Saban or Meyer or even Doeren

All I think about from watching that game is how we would have done if we'd had Huff playing the 2 previous years like he has this year. Carey said he had a good week of practice - but Huff was doing stuff like this as a freshman.

Someone else said that Huff would be back for the CMU game, I have not heard anything official.

I thought I read that Huff should be okay for next week. A lot of players started going down by the end of the game, so I'm hoping his injury seemed worse because of the cold.

In the postgame show, I thought I heard Bill Baker say Huff was walking around the field after the game. If anything, playing CMU on a Friday will give him more time to recover.

Some guys sitting by us were losing their **** at Coach Carey over the punt that hit Trayshon Foster in the back. Like a ball that takes a bad hop in a windy night is the head coach's fault. Haters gonna hate.

It's not just here. Any game thread is a bastion of insanity. The WMU guys ascribed Jordan Huff making 4 guys miss on the 1st touchdown as 100% coaching. Apparently, there weren't enough Oklahoma drills on the field during pregame for them.

Our two fan bases are full of idiots. Maybe going to a major bowl does that to you. Some on our board are insinuating that our rash of injuries are somehow the coaches fault as well, and that if he demanded more from them they wouldn't have gotten hurt..... 01-wingedeagle

03-banghead one of several errors last nite partly attributed to playing conditions -----------------
ESPN broadcaster Desmond Howard --- a Heisman winner and Super Bowl MVP noted -- it was Beebe's job to yell FIRE FIRE or whatever is the code is to get away from the ball when your teammates' back is to the incoming football...

You're right, Cybes, it is. The term you hear most often is "poison". However, that still doesn't tell Foster where he should go, and it's hit or miss as to whether he'll get his head around and actually find the ball. In theory he should, but that ball hit him on the first bounce. That's just really crappy luck, mostly.

I was watching on TV and thinking "I can't wait until this gets turned into a coaching rant". To be fair, they could have put 10 guys on the line over the ball, bringing the gunners in to help block. I'm pretty sure that is what they went to after that Foster punt.

Somebody by me was talking about how bad our punting/kicking was - of course, that was when we were going against the wind. I was like, "HELLO!". And I'm sure we were also trying to keep it away from Phillips.

I thought maybe WMU would make a big effort to block the punts, knowing that we would be trying to kick it low so it would go more than 5 yards.

Also watching Carey after the play (because his reaction to players making mistakes has often been a topic on here) was strong, Foster was coming off the field, pretty upset, I thought Carey was going to yell, instead he said it was alright, and asked if he was held by WMU player, then he went after the officials for it.

I agree with the Cybes view, this team doesn't seem to give up (trying to forget about the Boise game, that's a different story), but looking at the last 2 seasons (even with last year sucking), this team kept right on fighting in every game.

The same thing happened after Ference's 7 yard punt. Carey put his arm around him and had what looked like a very rational conversation with him. NIU's domination from 2010-2015, combined with the dwindling "regular" fan base due to MACtion, has created a much larger percentage of armchair QB/Coach NIU fans

When the offense took a knee in the final minute of the first half, the same guy was yelling: "You're wasting valuable time!" I don't like taking a knee at the end of the half, but why risk a turnover when you're going to get the ball back after halftime.

proving once again there is little shortage of football strategy and ignorance sitting right next to fans at games....I also recall NIU was heading into the wind at end of second quarter and near own 30 yard line ...

you gotta admit, ference's punt for 9 yards was one of the oddest things to see on tv....for 2 seconds that ball seemed to defy basic laws of momentum and gravity :)

Watching a replay of the game, I agree with Desmond Howard, it was quite comical. It was like the ball was on a string that somebody pulled.

Was crazy to watch that. Looked fake. I wonder if Ferentz isn't comfortable doing the pooch punts like Orne. Who did pretty damn well IMO.

I'm often critical of Carey taking a knee at the end of the half, but yeah, I was perfectly fine with it in that situation.
