I don't know if I agree with that, but I'd certainly take 3rd in the NCHC over winning the WCHA. Especially since the WCHA champion last year (Bemidji) didn't even make the tournament.

For sure. I've seen Denver (top-tier NCHC team) and Wisconsin (top-tier Big Ten team) skate this year and the speed difference between the two isn't even close. Playing these teams all of the time is what makes the program better, not winning a league full of also-rans.

I'd definitely take 3rd or 4th place in the NCHC over winning the WCHA because 3rd/4th place in the NCHC still gets you into the Tourney.

As the WCHA supporters say: once you're in anything can happen.

(Not sure we're a fast team yet, though, despite our improvement these past couple years. I firmly believe we lost to Air Force last year because they were faster. Also not sure if we'll ever truly be fast under Andy Murray; I don't think that's his system)

RE: UMD Series Gamethreads
Was at both games this weekend and this is my assessment. First do not look at the shots on goal they are a joke, in this day and age if you are going to keep this stat just frinkin do it.
First game was not as bad as was previously stated, first two periods were good, in the third we had a bunch of Bobby Orr,s trying to rush the puck and gave up a bunch of 2 on 1,s cost us.
Game two our top line did not have a good game at all but Blacker and the rest of the team picked them up which was great to see.
Also the team seem,s to get along well and really support each other and look like they are having a good time
