Who really knows...?

We basically sold our right to be in the playoff for a 85 million and a guaranteed major bowl.

Here is the deal--next time around the CFP selection committee will have to be revamped so it has equal G5 representation--otherwise, they are going to get sued (and the CFP will lose). Its just that simple.

The current selection committee is extremely biased against the G5 (to the point its not even arguable). The current committee does a good job of comparing P5 to P5 and G5 to G5. Its utterly incapable of comparing G5 to P5 in any meaningfully accurate way. They have proven themselves to be an obvious farce when comparing G5 to P5. Frankly, SOS should be a consideration in breaking ties. These bozo's use it as fence to wall out competitiors. Its like college football Aparthied. The Jim Crow Football League.

It hasnt really been a huge deal up to now, simply because Im not sure any G5 has really been a possible legit top 4 competitor---but the precedent being set now is essentially going to damage the chances of any future G5 that IS deserving of such a rating.

Since 2002 BSU has had 4 top 8 final rankings. In 2010 they reached #2 in the BCS. CFP seems to show a lot more favoritism to P5 teams over G5 teams.

USF and UCF have no one to blame but themselves really, its not rocket science.

It's pretty common knowledge to even sniff the playoffs from a G5 spot you've got to go undefeated, win your conf and have a good OOC.

Stoneybrook, Illinois, FIU and Austin Peay certainly aren't getting anyones attention. And the East being down doesn't help either.

RE: The CFP Committee is a joke
There is a way for a non-power school to make the playoffs. It does cater to the American, perhaps a couple Mountain West Schools, Army, and BYU. It requires starting the season highly ranked with high expectations. Houston had that last year. If they had stayed undefeated, I bet they would've at least had a decent chance. Central Florida is in a similar boat. If they go undefeated this, retain a decent amount of starters, win a NY6 bowl, and play power schools in 2018 (2018 schedule includes North Carolina, Pittsburgh, fighting Lane Kiffins of Florida Atlantic + American schools like Navy, SMU, Temple, Cincinnati, Memphis, and South Florida) then they have good chance to start ranked in the top 15 which helps tremendously.

If you believe any "Non-Money Conference" team will make the Playoffs, you just haven't been paying attention. Face the facts as they are, the system is rigged. Bought and paid for. 05-stirthepot

RE: The CFP Committee is a joke
There is a rumor that Danny White is trying to schedule Miami next year, presumably to replace South Carolina State. They do that and their OOC is FAU, PITT, UNC, and Miami. If Miami goes to the CFP and does well....... next year would be a great test. If UCF ran the table again, while starting the year ranked low teens or even too 10...... I can see them at least be in the conversation next year.

Why? You don't think running the table next year, starting with a nice pre-season rank isn't possible if a miracle happens and Frost is back after a hypothetical undefeated season and NY6 win this year?

Beating a highly ranked Miami would be a catapult, especially if they win the trophy this year. Not saying UCF would win that game....... but it certainly would lay the groundwork for a chance.....you wouldn't agree?

Considering SCST was literally just added yesterday, I highly doubt that. UCF wants 7 home games and Miami ain't coming here on a 1 and done basis.

Like I said, it was only a rumor.

One must ask, why schedule SC State anyway? I know UCF wants that home game...... but think about it....... I would be willing to go to Miami to watch it as a one and done. It's not like many fans are gonna show up for a non-FBS game anyway, plus UCF is gonna have to pay SC State. The upside is too great, especially if UCF knows the type of team they have next year is gonna be a rather good one. There is a path to the CFP (with a little help) with that schedule, vs no chance at all.

So if Auburn beats Bama, wins the SEC Champ game they shouldn't be in the playoffs?

Didn't UCF beat Baylor in a BCS game, finished that season highly ranked, and was unranked at the start of the next season?

A frightening scenario: SMU beats Memphis, USF beats UCF, then Boise gets NY6 Bowl or does the AAC still get it?

UCONN plays at Boise next year. Winning that game will surely land the Huskies in the CFP.

Yes, but the difference is that they were not undefeated and they lost many players, including their star QB. Quite the different scenario. Case in point, USF this year, with a stronger finish this year compared to USF's season last year. If UCF manipulates their OOC next year to take advantage of their very strong team......things can happen...... even if its a long shot, its better than no shot.

I have no problem with sacrificing a few home OOC games to send a returning undefeated team into a gauntlet. Hell, in addition to UNC, Pitt, and FAU, I would try to make the Miami game happen, even if its at Hard Rock. Heck, if the opportunity arose and they can even schedule a last minute game against another top 10 or top 5 P5 team, I would even see about buying out the FAU game. Yea, I know its a pipe dream.......
Gotta go gambling sometimes to win big. Make the OOC the equivalent to the P5 conference schedule. It narrows the gap and takes away the committee's SOS narrative.

Actually, he's in the SEC. After all he says he roots for the Gators. Not sure why he's here, slumming it with us "ham-and-eggers", though.
