RE: UT-BG
Never had a doubt.

And so once again, it comes down to a final game against Western. Our D and penalties will keep the Broncos in the game, so I hope we didn’t use up too many points tonight. Keep that running game going!

RE: UT-BG
A couple of observations:

- D-Coordinator better talk to his guys about getting pressure on the QB. Seems like we go half-hearted in the first half, then pick it up in the second half. We have plenty of good back-ups. Go hard, take a blow, then get back in there.
- Quit giving up the edge. Adeniya (sp?) has it happen to him the most - but then again, Quinn was doing it last week. It's almost like they forget the corners are no longer outside them, they are downfield covering a receiver.
- I hope Candle and his staff review the tapes closely. Not really worth it, but a letter needs to go to the MAC on the officiating. The linesman was awful. He consistently marked the ball where a knee hit the ground and not where the ball was when the knee hit the ground. At least he also did it to BG once in the 4th Qtr. I see things and reverse the DVR and watch it in slo-mo. We won, no sour grapes - but the guy was bad.
- Another game where the other team does a bunch of $hit after the play and gets called once. Why is it we always get a personal foul, and whoever it is we are playing - just gets warned?
- This should give us good momentum going into Western game. They are out of the race now and it will be their 2nd game in a row on the road.
- I think NIU loses at Central next week. It is one of those match-ups that gives Central a very good shot at a win. They cannot win the West with the Toledo victory, but it is their senior night and NIU is coming off an important win against Western. (we just need to win and it doesn't matter - and NIU plays well in November, but I still think they lose)
- Glad Swanson did not play much in the 2nd half. Ankle looked good, now he gets almost 9 days to let it fully recover - or at least get better than this week which was an ok day for him rushing. No touchdowns though. He sucks....lol

Moro, I thought the same on the spots. Cost us a couple first downs. Woodside's run near the goal line and D Johnson's comeback catch come to mind.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if central beats NIU then our game with western is meaningless. Worst we could do is tie with NIU and CMU and we beat both.

One question I have is why haven't we been using Seymore as a human goal line battering ram all season?

My guess? He's continued to improve over the course of the season and earned that role. He'll be a beast next year. Feel bad for Swanson, though. A couple years ago he had those long runs that fell just short and Kareem got the TDs. Last night he did the heavy lifting and a frosh gets five TDs. Poor guy can't catch a break.

Correct. I think Moto is just saying we can't worry about that -just win.

It's like having a closer in baseball.

The kid is a specimen, physically imposing. It has to be demoralizing, looking across the line and seeing him on the 3 yd line. You may stop him once, but he's getting in. On the 6 inch play, I wondered why they didn't give or to him. That was strange. We average 7 yds a run, but we can't get 6 inches. Most of their scores were off our mistakes or helped by penalties.

I do like this November strategy, pound, pound, pound and toss or when you need too. Reminds me when we rode Scooter all the way to the mac championship. His last three games and the game in Detroit were fun to watch. He punished defenses.

RE: UT-BG
watched a little more of the replay from the DVR this morning (I have a real sleeping problem and wake up at 4 to 4:30 every day) Now I'm starting to believe that the DC had some method to the madness we saw on the field. He changed up a few things for the second half and we had consistent pressure on the QB - and stopped the running game.. We did some of the things OU did against us with the linebackers and blitzing, but their QB didn't know who was coming. Also ran a few stunts with the DT's and I didn't see any in the first half - other than the one where Adeniya seemed to do it on his own and left the left side wide open on a running play. That happened twice. In the second half, when we did the same stunts, the DT went to the outside as Adeniya came behind him on the inside and we had pressure. He is also extremely quick off the snap and blew past the OT a couple of times. Ross had a huge hit on Doege for one sack. Guy shows a lot of speed and had not heard that much from him all season until the second half last night.

Announcers for the game seemed to be fawning all over Jinx and the youth of BG and how good they will be next year. They have some skill guys, but they are small and they lose their top 2 receivers. Their big guys are not very good and kind of "puffy and soft". Not sure how good that QB will be. Less impressed once we got pressure on him and he didn't have 5-7 seconds to throw. Our main question will be at QB. We are very strong next year with what we are returning at every other position. Our top receiver only played 4 games and about 1 minute of the fifth. Everyone else is back. Swanson will be a loss, but I think we will be ok at RB with Thompkins and Seymour. Our version of Mercury Morris and Larry Csonka.

Yeah, well they can talk about BG ending the streak all they want but next year we get them at home in November! Oh, wait....

I was actually thinking about how much I LOVED how we used the guy in the monsoon at Central. Didn't see much action through the first 3 quarters, but in the fourth, he was fresh, and dry, and wasn't carrying small oceans worth of water in his shoes like everybody else. Cmu had no chance of containing him. He's earned the privilege of being used in a larger role, and in some games The Rockets couldn't afford to wait that long to unleash the young man.

RE: UT-BG
The UT-BG game and rivalry (and current UT win streak) was great and worth the focus and obsession, UNTIL doing the current streak BG still advanced to 3 MAC title (2013-15) games and won 2 championship, and of course UT has not even been in the MAC Championship since 2004. A great it is to beat BG but now means a lot less to me than a MAC title especially those years with they won it.

About a 7000 drop off in fans since the last trip to the Dolt. Of course the fact that BG
has only 8 wins since then might have something to do about it.

I cringe when Thompkins is in the game. Just looks tentative. No wonder Seymour has jumped ahead

Not on the UT site as of early Monday afternoon, but (no surprise here) Terry Swanson is the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Falcons.
