He’s also a much better player than people make it seem on here despite his difficulties in post up situations.

Its become clear that your standards of good for everything other than defense by players who are good at offense are just not very high.

Brandan was 6th in the conference in win shares per 40. In both years we had an Orating of 113 and a d-rating of 91/92 with him in the lineup. Per 100 possessions he averaged 24/23 2 years ago and 24/17 last year. He's a very good player that has struggled in 2 out of the 3 games this year.

I agree that Brandan isn't a post up player. He is however a post up player for ODU in the offense that they have been running for the last several years.

I'm mostly encouraged by Porter's improvement on the offensive end, along with what appears to be increased stamina from last season. Basically I see him and Brandan as an improvement offensively over Brandan and Taylor from last season. If Carver continues to play like he did yesterday then I think we will OK in the front court for this season. Not great, but at least OK. I don't necessarily think that the top 4 or 5 of C-USA is as good as last season (not saying they were terrific then either). I watched Marshall lose to Morehead State last night and wasn't very impressed. Morehead had lost its previous game to Xavier by 50+ points I believe they said, but yet beat Marshall.

Marshall is not expected to be very good this year. Its Elmore and very little.

Brandon has games where he seems like he's unstoppable. More often, however, he seems to suffer from the common big man fear of getting his shot blocked, and rushes things, missing easy layups, etc.

In our new "fast-paced" style, he's one player that needs to slow down a bit.

Temple is up 11 with 2 minutes to go in the game. Auburn shredded Indiana State yesterday, so if the guys show up today we should get a win.

The SEC is supposed to be good this year although Bruce Pearl is liable to be fired/arrested any second

That is pretty much what I said when I stated that I "wasn't impressed". Also keep in mind that Marshall is at least probably in the middle of C-USA pre-season rankings. For the record, Morehead State didn't impress me either.

Interestingly enough, one of the TV announcers said in the game today that he "needs to slow down a little bit". 04-cheers
