Sad Football is boring
I watched an NFL game last night and all I witnessed were players and coaches walking around for hours. Between the walking and standing around, there were brief interruptions for commercials and actual game play. Had the clock not been running, I would still be stuck in front of the television as I type this.

Football is like those last 2 minutes in a college basketball game when the score is close and the trailing team immediately fouls the second the ball is thrown in causing the game to run in 3-second bursts for what seems like an eternity. Pure torture.

To be fair, baseball is also extremely boring.

Do I even need to bring up fking soccer?

NBA basketball looks like college basketball players running warm-up drills.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, college basketball has much more action per minute of ass in seat. I don't have time to watch humans walk around on grassy fields. Get the **** on with it!

That is all.

Happy Monday everyone! 03-nutkick

RE: Football is boring
Relative to football basketball players all have pretty much the same job. Football players are much more specialized and it takes way more work and coordination of people to be successful in football. Basketball is a simple game played by complicated people. Football is a complicated game played by simple people. It does take more attention span and intellect to appreciate football. I can see where some would prefer hoops. Basketball is a nice diversion for the long period until spring football and national signing day

I agree with you on the NFL, just don't watch or keep up with it, well, till the playoffs. But hey, you'll come to love college football once you realize it's the number one sport and the one that really matters.

College football only matters to a select amount of schools every year. Everybody else is playing for peanuts.

RE: Football is boring
first of all...nfl and college are 100% different ...
nfl has dramatically better talent, especially at tackling, so there arent that many big plays.
most nfl team run the prosyle offense. which is low scoring type of football, most in college run a spread/tempo offense which is built to score a TON

secondly the last few minutes of fottball are easily the best and the complete opposite of football....in basketball you are just stalling..in football there are hail maties, on side kicks (get numerous possesions at once), ways you can actually alter a game..

houston was once down 21 to pitt with 5 mnutes to go (a regular drive in football for 1 team is regularly about 4 minutes)...houston scored, onsided, scored, onsided, scored, then went for a 2 point conversion on the last score to take the lead
https://youtu.be/rTM308pWM1Q

and you had zero rooting interest or care about the team or know the weight of each game...football is inherently more interesting becuase EVERY GAME matter..especially in college you lose 1 game and your entire season is ruined
usf lost one game to houston, on a 4 and 24 hail mary are still 8-1 (out of 12 games) and they went from media darlings top 15 team to irrelevant by the national media ..every upset is season changing good or bad
even for the big dogs... there are only 4 playoff spots for 5 power conferences and ND..a dn a conference can get more than 1 slot...every game matter...georgia just went from the best best team in college football..to an unliklley team to make the playoff in 1 game

in basketball...the acc has .500 team make the tourney...the nba had 90 game in the regular season...individual games are meaningless

Take away tailgating, take away fantasy football, take away the incredible media hype machine cooperative designed solely to market consumer products to people and what do you have left?

That's right... SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS! And they are great!

RE: Football is boring
Football is a wonderful sport and will always have its place, but its period of ascendancy is over and its popularity will wane in the coming decades as people with an IQ over 80 and income above poverty levels steer their kids towards participation in sports which don't cause intellectual incapacity en masse by their early 40s. Society will continue to watch these poor dumb bastards play, like fans of gladiator events in bygone eras, but the allocation of resources will shift as the disconnect with the moneyed class widens.

The window on football's dominance from a monetary standpoint still has a while before it closes and the sport is overtaken by whatever successor emerges, though.

There are certain teams that the bolded statement doesn't apply to. That's what's makes me hate college football. It's the same schools every year fighting for the 4 spots. At least with college basketball, there is a lot larger pool of teams that get a chance at the title.

When you have a sport that a team can never lose a game and still not have a chance at a title ... it's dumb to me.

Does this mean that Wichita has given up its dream of fielding a football team in hopes of snagging a Big12 invite when realignment comes calling in a few years and your current conference mates all split?

I'm all for Wichita State restarting football inasmuch as it becomes a catalyst for the further advancement of everything Shocker. I'm not a football fan but I'm not stupid. If we have a program I will watch it. I won't feel the highs of a game in Koch Arena, but I'll manage...

Big TV payouts are done. Thus, major realignment is probably done. Before long, football may be done.

Enjoy the Bad Boys Bowl.
