RE: Playoff picture
Alright BDK. I know you'll overanalyze my post to death but whatever. Go for it.
We won't have a 35-40k crowd between JMU and NDSU in a title game if every person that wanted to get a ticket was able to do so at face value in a stadium that is actually appropriately sized for the demand level?
2011 - NDSU/SHSU 20,586
2012 - NDSU/SHSU 21,411
2013 - NDSU/Towson 19,802
2014 - NDSU/ISU 20,918
2015 - NDSU/JSU 21,836
Avg - 20,911
Lets say each non-NDSU school brought their entire 4k school alottment, which I'd say is certainly a stretch, but why not? 17k NDSU fans per game, bare minium. Then they say there's several thousand more NDSU fans that show up but don't go to the game because they can't get a ticket. 2-5k? Let's go with 2,500.
19,500 NDSU fans just in Texas and that's a conservative figure. How many more may have shown up if they got a ticket? They average 20k a game at home with a waiting list supposedly pushing 30k if there was capacity for it. It's not a stretch to say they could bring up to 25k if there were enough tickets to go around.
Last year for JMU, 14,423. YSU brought 2k, but why not give them another generous 1k and say they brought 3k? Since that's what we do. That's still 11k JMU fans that showed up. Lets say those 400 difference are neutral fans. Don't tell there was 1k+ neutral fans. No. Okay screw it. Lets say 10k JMU fans showed up because we love to undersell JMU.
19.5k NDSU fans plus 10k JMU fans = 29.5k fans that have actually shown up.
What about fans that could come that didn't last year? I know several that will and I'm sure some know some that didn't bother to block it off last year because they "weren't used to it" but are making sure to do so this year since they heard so many great stories from their friends who did go.
You mean to tell me that with the known attendance between both schools being already 30,000 and factoring in people from both fan bases that will show up when they didn't before if a ticket was available to them, that we couldn't find another 5,000 people, 10,000 people?
Give me a break. It's 100% realistic.

hopefully if we have 40K seats each school gets more than a 4K allotment.

It's the NCAA, so I wouldn't hold your breath there haha. Watch it drop to 2k.

Move it to SMU. 32k, tons of hill space, bar districts close by. Students still on break. And best of all, the word Soccer will never be mentioned since it's actually a football stadium.

Sounds great! Problem is Frisco has the contract locked up thru 2020, and I don’t see them canceling it. I’d like to see the game in Florida somewhere if we are still a whale in fcs in 2020, but with luck maybe we can be talking about upcoming Bowl games then instead.

I certainly hope not. How boring. Would you really like to trade one meaningless bowl game for the playoffs we have now?

I know I won't pay what I'm paying to go to Frisco for any bowl game outside of a national playoff (which clearly will never happen). I wouldn't go to any bowl game that requires flying, so within an 8 hour radius, probably even a 4 hour radius really. What does that leave us? Washington DC Military Bowl only?
No JMU fans would care enough to show up for a generic bowl game outside of 1 or 2k tops.

If we move up to FBS and we go to a bowl, I'll definitely be there for the first one! After that I'm not sure, but our first ever bowl, yep, I'll definitely show up for that one!

Anywhere, any team? ODU fans got the Bahamas bowl which required a passport and maybe 2 weeks notice during the holiday season.

Sounds great to me too! While I enjoy Frisco games, it might get a tad old (city/location) if we went there as often as NDSU.
I would find a lot of bowl games “meaningful” and fun. Hope everyone plans to attend all our home playoff games, but I know some that aren’t interested in going till Frisco. Frisco to me is about the same as a good bowl game. Bigger bragging rights at the FCS level I guess, but not more nationally relevant than many bowl games are. Beyond that, FBS playoffs will expand to at least 8, and possibly 16 teams, its just a matter of time.

You didn't include the tickets given to locals (sponsors and such) + non afilliated (yeah probably under 1k. There were a chunk at the the game last Jan).
That's ok though, before long we'll hear claims that JMU/NDSU could sell out the Cotton Bowl or the Jerry Jones Dome..Makes for a good story.
Unfortunately we'll never know how many even if JMU & NDSU made it this year or in the next several, since the game is locked into Frisco for the next several years..
