If you have 2 QB’s and run each of them 15 times per game, that could work. Of course, finding reliable QB’s is easier said than done.

ga southern beat florida a few years back with 0 yards passing.

We beat SMU in 2008 34-7 and Wake in 2009 13-10 both without attempting a pass.

If I am correct, SMU & Wake were both "no pass" monsoon games. SMU '17 was a dry weather non completion game.

For the record, I wish they would have given Perry another shot to throw the ball. The first attempt just looked like a ball that slipped on a reload. I think he is a pretty good passer overall. We need to mix it up more or we will have no QB's left if we keep running them 30 times per game.

Nice first post. Welcome. 04-cheers

I'm a Navy vet. I pull for you guys when not playing Memphis.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been looking for a new message board. The main Navy message board imploded last year and went to several different sites. This site looks pretty solid.

Lewis is our best passer but for some reason the coaches dont favor him.

Abey can throw, he just is not very good at reading and finding the open man. He tends to force the ball to the first option.

Perry can throw but that was his first varsity start and I think they wanted to keep it simple.

that had to be the sugar bowl didnt it?

Yes, the 1980/1981 Sugar Bowl. #1 Georgia beat #7 Notre Dame 17-10 to win the national championship.

I remember watching the game. Herschel Walker gained 150 yards, but he needed almost 40 carries to do it. Notre Dame looked like the stronger team and out-gained Georgia pretty badly, but made critical mistakes in the red zone (IIRC, because of ND turnovers, Georgia drove a total of about 20 yards for their two TDs), which Vince Dooley teams were good at inducing back then.

The SMU game was my reunion weekend. It was definitely raining, but I wouldn't call it a monsoon. My recollection is that Ricky Dobbs put on a TO clinic, June Jones and company looked lost to stop it, and there was absolutely no need to pass.

I have no recollection of the Wake game.

I didn't look up the Wake game but I believe Proctor was QB and there was a big rain storm.

Interesting post game comment by SMU coach Morris. He said he had a feeling that Perry might start. I wonder if that was more than a feeling and SMU actually had someone on campus watching practice? I follow Navy 24/7 and did not expect Perry to start nor did anyone leak that info.

Navy Football: The Brotherhood videos have been great for years. But not gonna say they don't benefit from access to Showtime footage.

That's just funny.

Dude (or dudette) gonna get crushed, but it's funny. I hope it was someone's last scheduled flight before getting out and he/she has that airline job lined up already.
