Dallas jury goes rougue
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companie...spartandhp

JP Morgan was found liable for mismanaging a $19 million inheritance and the Dallas jury awarded the heirs $8 billion. Even the children are saying it should be more like $74 million.

You expect that sort of stuff in South Texas. But the Dallas jury seems to be taking the housing bust out on JP Morgan Chase.

Bad sign for justice in the courts.

Sounds like this will be reversed on appeal if not settled first.

The judge will reduce it. But to what?

This is a good sign.

Sure, it won’t stand, but the restrictions being placed on the civil jury around the country are unfair and destructive.

First, JP Morgan is a corrupt organization. Look at all the fines, billions worth, they have paid over the last 5-7 years. Second, I believe the charges. They don't want to effiently work through the estate, once it's settled, the fees end. I also believe the charge that they worked to curry favor with the stepmother at the expense of the children. That gives them the best chance to hang on to the assets. You can't do that by being fair, everyone feels slighted then, so you pick a side.

Of course $8 billion is ridiculous, but if the heirs counsel supported that somehow and the bank's counsel did not bother to discredit that with the jury, that's on them.
