RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
At this point we won’t get any real “sizzle” to come to Lynchburg.

I understand and respect playing the small lower level Christian schools, but thise should be the 2-3 preseason scrimmages.

I think it is worth noting that on Monday Fort Wayne beat Indiana by 20 points. That game is looking much harder now.

I knew Ft. Wayne would be a big challenge. They have been good the last couple seasons with at least 20 wins each. We will have to play an exceptional game to win.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
I am not at all surprised by the loss to Ft. Wayne. I am surprised by how many points we gave up in the first half.

Now we play winless Alabama St. to finish out the OOC slate. This is a game we should win handily.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
Here we stand at 9-4.
I figure we go 13-5 in confernce,
and finish the regular season at 22-9.
I believe this team wins the BSC tournament,
then heads into the NCAA tournament at 25-9,
as a #16 seed.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
I like where we're at. I would have liked 10 non-conference wins but we're in a good spot.

Only having to win 11 games to get to 20 wins is extremely doable and would be a disappointment if we didn't get there.

If we made the NCAA tournament at 25-9, I would expect at least a #15 seed; probably more like a #14 or #13 if we're lucky.

I would say we would be a 15 seed in the 3 overall seed side of the bracket.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
Well, that just happened (LU 55 - 58 GW).
What an ugly and uninspiring game. Offense was terrible and they couldn’t guard the one kid who was hitting shots. Shouldn’t have lost this game.
Now I’m overeacting amd wondering if we’ve had some fools gold with 9 wins that include KCU, Alabama St., Summit, Toccoa Falls? On the other hand, we beat WF and Ga. St.
Not a good way to start conference play.

Really disappointed with our performance today. There is plenty of time left in the season so this is hardly the worst thing but we need to keep these games to a minimum if we want to go places.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
At the end of the day the only thing that matters is the big south tourney. The regular season means nothing. Win the tourney and we will accomplish everything we set out to do. 25-9 or 16-18, it doesn't matter to me, just get into the big tourney.

Really? You’d be happy with a losing record?

I wouldn’t. Yes, I want to make the tourny, but I’d rather be a respectable, consistent and competitive PROGRAM. With that, you will make the tourny regularly anyway.

There is a big if in that scenario. Yes, I would be okay with having a losing if it meant we got into the NCAA tournament. I think getting in would do a lot for a program. It would do a lot more than whatever all these other tournaments are.

RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Season
Just watched the game replay. There were literally dozens of fans in the stands! It looked quite pathetic on TV. The announed attendance was 1,600ish, but I doubt that from the TV vantage point. Still that would only be 18% of capacity. We have a quality winning team. What gives? Why aren’t people supporting?

It was 1688. I think the weekday games hurt. I think this Saturday we will have somewhere between 2100-2500. The teams we are playing aren't helping gain interest amoung the fan base. The UNC Asheville game could be the best attended game left and I wouldn't expect that to go much over 3k.

Students are on break. Local community will start showing up the season after a successful team makes the NCAA tournament.

Liberty came from behind and finally won in Rock Hill 73-70. It’s the first win at Winthrop since 2004. 12-5 I’ll take that every time.

We perform much better in the second half of games. I wish we started games better but don't mistake this for complaining about a win. Keep up the good work team!
