From the Commercial Appeal
Lomax added he will "most likely" sign his national letter of intent to play for Wichita State over the next week.
Does seem a little strange to announce a commitment at this point but not sign an NLI. Maybe waiting on a better offer from OM?
I thought so as well. Maybe he is just waiting until the next shoe drops.
Well played.

Hopefully not an Adidas shoe.

RE: Lomax?
He was the top priority. They pushed him to commit early. He didn't want to. They moved on to Harris.
He signs with WSU. Good for him. I hope he does well there. I also hope we beat them.
We all know the staff cooled a little bit on ALo...now that he signs elsewhere people are surprised?

RE: Lomax?
The bad part with this is that the staff seemed to be pitting Lomax v. Harris and put out there "the first one to take the offer gets it!"
Now that Lomax is BOH, Memphis has no hand with Harris. What are they going to say now? "Tyler, the offer is on the table and if you don't take it, we'll sign the 5'6 guard from SBEC."
They literally have no other PG options right now.

we didn't switch to Harris until two months ago. now, harris isn't committing and he looks like he's going to wait until spring. that's not good for us. He will be more valued in the spring.
Now, if we don't get Harris, we don't have a backup plan.

Well, the good news is that it looks like we will get to see Marshall coaching Memphis talent in the AAC after all.

I would love to have Harris, but the ideal situation would be for Tubby to pull in a recruit that is ranked higher before Harris commits. That would go a long way toward helping future recruits become more decisive.

Only one we are in on is Woodard, and we are in his top 3 and his only visit so far.
And I agree, Woodard, Harris, Johnson, Enoh, and Nickelberry would be a decent core to build on before the huge 2019 class. I just don't see any evidence at all that we are going to sign those two yet. I'm worried that they both wait until the spring.

Team Penny’s Alex Lomax has committed to Wichita State. Was Memphis’ primary target this summer. Ultimately decided to play for another American Athletic Conference program.
Now that's a Shocker!

Marshall May be coaching in Louisville instead of Wichita State, according to some Kansas ppl.

If by Kansas people, you mean KU fans that have been hoping that same hope for 5+ years now.
Louisville is a dumpster fire.

If Marshall leaves, doesn't that re-open Lomax's recruitment?

God help us. We don't need another year of Lomax conjecture.

RE: Lomax?
Does anyone else find the most troubling aspect of this situation the fact that our staff committed all their efforts to sign a kid from Memphis who wasn't even a top 150 recruit and missed?
It's one thing to set a low bar. It's quite another to fail to reach that low bar.

Yep. It's troubling. It'll be spun that the staff decided to move their attention toward Tyler Harris, though.
