So you weren't happy with our record and bowl appearance last year? I was.
Exactly. Keep your foolish comments to yourself super'fan'.
The team went to it's first bowl game in 30 years last year! This year they beat a Big 10 team and should have easily had 7,8,9 wins if we wouldn't have given half a dozen games away with terrible turnovers and shoddy special teams play.
Yes, woulda/coulda/shoulda I know, but don't compare the program today, to the garbage of the past. The MAC should be wide open again next year. If we're fortunate enough to hit on the right QB/OC combination, we'll be right there with the best teams in the MAC next year. If we have QB struggles again, we'll see a 3-4 win repeat.
Pretty much every team in the MAC can say the same thing.
I'll just throw out there too that our schedule this year was not as conducive for us to be as successful as last year. Next year, our schedule should/could set us up a bit better for success.
In our division we will get what should be our harder games at home in NIU, Toledo and CMU and road games at WMU and Ball State. Then we will likely get games against the other three MAC East schools in Buffalo, Akron and Kent State in which I would like our chances much better than having to deal with Ohio, Miami and Bowling Green even if two of those three are on the road.
Then even our non conference games we have 2 of them at home vs Monmouth and Army. Our road games at Purdue and at SDSU will be tough but if we have the right team, you never do know.
I do know that this year was disappointing but I also do know that this team competed in every game and actually showed a lot of resilience this year. However, I do also understand the immense frustration too. Trust me sitting in the stands at UK and then coming back for Homecoming those games were numbing in very different ways and at the same time were numbing for the same reason with the special teams. Also despite the record, let's remember that we did finally break another ridiculous streak by beating Rutgers. Let's also remember that things sound decent for our improvement plan for the stadium as well.
We all know that this team's record is not an indication of how good they could have been, but bottom line it is what it is. I know that EMU has also been putting out there montra of "closing the gap" and honestly just from four years ago to now that gap doesn't seem as "Grand Canyonesque" as it used to.
Then again I don't live in reality, never played football, never coached football so what do I really know. I should honestly just leave the opinions to our "experts" on this board. Or maybe I should write a research paper on why Zone Defense is the answer to all of our problems as EMU Fans.
