I think the bigger issue in the typical player rankings is there is little to no value at all given to being a top defender. However, in reality it wins games and is the difference often times in who gets to the tourney year in an year out. Clark doesn't have the offensive firepower Fortson had, few do. However, he could score more if he needed to.

While it is easy to compare Gary to Danny because it would appear they are similar in size, Fortson had a much bigger frame and was stronger than Clark (no knock on Gary, Danny was just unreal).

Completely agree with this about people not remembering Danny's game. In my opinion well not see another Fortson-type player. Game has changed so much with regards to spacing and getting big guys who can shoot. If Danny played now I don't know if he could've played at the 250-260 lbs he played at. Your modern power forwards are more longer athletic types in the 220-240 range. His game would've had to be different although he was so special he would have been a player in any era.

I know nobody has really spoken about it, but I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how much Kyle Washington might have progressed.
If love what he brings as a scorer, but if he improves defensively and is even just average on that side of the floor, the front court will be a blast to watch this year.

He is the most complete interior player I have ever seen at UC.

He is the most complete offensive interior player I have ever seen at UC.

Fixed that for you.

He is definitely a force to be reckoned with when he is in the groove. And he might have been the best you have seen, but for my money- Fortson, Kmart, and Maxiell were better all around players.

Once again, how can Gary Clark NOT be one of the 50 best in college basketball this season? The guy just quietly gets it done night after night. Who fills those shoes next season?
