MGN: Power Rankings after Wk 9
https://meangreennation.com/2017-cusa-po...gs-week-9/

I have FAU, NT, FIU as the top three and I had to check to make sure this was the _CUSA_ power rankings and not the Sun Belt circa 2005.

FAU and FIU are playing well right now.

All the rest are relatively playing at the same level, mediocre at best

But if you get Marshall ranked in the same spot (58) in the two different systems using two different methodologies, that should mean something

Thank you, we’ll take that compliment.
Heck until this week we accounted fairly well for ourselves, as one-win teams go.

As for the F!U dilemma, can’t decide if I want the FIU bandwagon cause we almost beat them, or the FAU bandwagon, cause I <3 Owls.

I don't know... I could see a case for North Texas being ahead of FIU. I think North Texas has played a tougher schedule, and FIU's conference loss was to a MTSU team that has a losing record.

But, it really doesn't matter. We will all see just how good FIU is when they face FAU in the Shula Bowl in 2 weeks, if ODU doesn't beat them this Saturday.

I like FIU's defense but I just don't know what they have. Beating Marshall was really nice but I still think about that MTSU let down. Beating UTSA was really good but UTSA is in a weird spot right now, having struggled against Rice and for a while against UTEP.

I boosted NT a bit on the strength of beating the last real competition for the West title. FIU has opportunity in front of them tho and if they can win these next two weeks then they'll be comfortably ahead of NT in my power rankings.

The MTSU game wasn't really a let down, it was more of a wake-up call to FIU and the coaching staff. They put it into another gear after that game; the question now is how long they can maintain this new found intensity.

Carry over that intensity please to 2018. We need FAU and FIU to excel. Grab ANY market share in South Florida and we ALL benefit.

USM is in the top-half of the conference on defense alone. The offense is at the mercy of the Howard/Griggs two-headed monster. I really don't think I could handle face-planting versus Rice and/or Charlotte, but our passing game is bad. I hope Ito can carry us the rest of the way.

If someone had told me UAB would beat MTSU, LT, and USM but lose to Charlotte this year I would've given that near zero probability of happening

I also would've said that FAU/FIU and UNT/UAB as 1 and 2 in their divisions would've had no chance to happen

Just a crazy year

FIU wasn't anywhere close to the same team at the beginning of the year that it is now. Early on, they also struggled vs. UCF, Charlotte, Rice, and Alcorn St. Both FIU and FAU broke in new coaches this year with new systems. It was going to take some time to acclimate no matter how good the teams were and both struggled at the beginning. Neither is the same team at the beginning of the year that they are now and in both cases, the improvements have been dramatic. With all the seniors on FIU's team, this is the year for them to make whatever splash they can. Let's see how far they can go.
