Game day going there along with Saturday Night Football.
Pretenders vs the Overrated.

Mark Richt’s evil goatee aside, I think he has worked very hard to distance this Miami team from ‘Da U’ of old

Richt is first class. If Miami can defeat Notre Dame, Miami has a shot at a national championship. Wouldn't it be interesting if Miami played Georgia for the championship?
The Miami/Georgia match up would be great for game build up for the obvious reason. It would would have extra cache with Richt returning to alma mater after leaving GA.

Have to go with the Convicts on this one since Miami and Wisconsin are getting screwed in the polls. 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana 03-shhhh 04-rock 04-bow 05-mafia 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 07-coffee3 05-nono 04-cheers

Go Irish.

Not a Convict fan but dislike the poll system even more where the pollsters lean toward teams that favor TV ratings and teams that will sell more tickets at the play off bowls sites. The new system is as corrupt as the old system with a little more polish and gloss on the pile of CRAP put forth to justify it. The 2 undefeated teams (Miami and Wisconsin) should be ranked above the 1 loss teams. If Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson, or Florida State were undefeated, they would be ranked ahead of the 1 loss teams in the polls and all of those schools are from the same P5 conferences that lay claim to CONFERENCE STRENGTH of SCHEDULE to justify their existence at the top of the polls as Miami and Wisconsin. 04-jawdrop 03-shhhh 03-nutkick 05-stirthepot 05-ban 05-mafia 03-puke 07-coffee3 04-cheers

The reason those teams you mentioned would be rnked ahead of 1 loss teams is because they actually scheduled tough oOC. Ohio St with Oklahoma, Penn St with Pitt(and also Ohio St in conference), Clemson with Auburn, and Florida St with Alabama. The reason why Miami and Wisconsin were behind 1 loss teams is they hadn't played anyone yet. I mean who is Wisconsin's best win so far? Northwestern or Florida Atlantic.

It's refreshing to not having the -0 mean that you are automatically better than a 1 loss team. Your schedule matters.

Wisconsin is facing the same situation UCF and AAC schools have thrown in their faces. The Big 10 West is terrible. Combine that with Wisconsin's OOC being awful and their Big 10 East crossover games being underwhelming and I think you can justify Wisconsin's ranking. Miami should improve after their VA tech win.

yep exactly. It's a perfect storm type of situation.... Look at the division crossovers for the next 3 years...
2017- Indiana, Maryland, Michigan
2018- Penn St, Michigan, Rutgers
2019- Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St

Then OOC this year featured BYU. Really dangerous to do that I think.

And next year really no better OOC-
2018- Western Kentucky, New Mexico, BYU

At least it improves in 2019-@ USF(should be good), Central Michigan, Kent St.

Then in 2020 Notre Dame.

I'm a Big Ten guy and I agree - I wouldn't put Wisconsin *as of today* higher ranked than the 1-loss teams currently ahead of them due to SOS.

That being said, if they end up being undefeated after the entire season (meaning they will have beaten Iowa and Michigan over the next 2 weeks and won the Big Ten title against a team like OSU/PSU/MSU), then it will all even out and I highly doubt they'd be kept out in that scenario. If there's one thing that we've learned about the CFP system since it has started, it's that the committee is NOT afraid to make large moves in the rankings compared to the polls.

Maybe the B1G should have kept Leaders and Legends. The divisions would have certainly been more balanced.

the thing though with Iowa and Michigan these next few weeks- both best case wind up 8-4.

Really for Wisconsin now, it's all or nothing. They do not have a prayer of getting in at 12-1.

I agree. I don't think Wisconsin has any margin for error. Of course, I don't think any team really can assume that they can lose another game and still make the playoff at this point (even if Alabama and Georgia make it to the SEC Championship Game as both being undefeated).

I think Alabama or Georgia could lose a game here next 3 weeks and still make it.

I think Miami could lose to ND and still make it if they beat Clemson. It wouldn't be a death sentance like it would be for Wisconsin or others.

But realisitcally I think they're the only 3 teams that are in that place right now.

Not really, Wisconsin just had a lot of teams on down years. PSU happened to get hot the past couple of years but they have been a perennial power for a long time.

Other schools like Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota can get hot in the same year.

There are 5 pretty much powers in the Big Ten. Wisconsin sees 1 of those 5 this year(and of the 5, it's the lowest).

Their division is down this year as a whole, and their crossover opponents are as weak as possible just baout.

It's pretty funny when you remember how Wisconsin before Alvarez was a dumpster fire that drew less than 30K in some cases. It's easy to forget because they weren't always awful and they've been so consistently solid ever since, unlike K-State where they were memorably horrible until Snyder came along.

Has Wisconsin played a team with a winning record yet this year?

Oh, you got that right. Wisconsin was BAD before Barry. Bad to the point of in the 30 years prior to Barry they only had 8 wining seasons. Even the first few years after Barry were bad but he managed to turn them into the quality program they are now.

I think that's a prefect example of how hiring the right coach can turn a program around.
