LINK:Will McBride’s Family is Thrilled!

Will's parents were amused to see a tweet from Stephanie become a conversation topic on the SEC Network's telecast of the game. Stephanie posted she was "speechless" as her son made his unexpected collegiate debut. Some interpreted that to mean she was upset Will lost his redshirt for this season by entering the game.

Jere said it would have been great to see Will redshirt — which allows a year of practice and development without playing — but he made it clear Mom and Dad harbor no animosity about the way things worked out.

"Certainly, we were excited," Jere said. "How can you not be? Basically, it's really out of your control. The circumstances and where you are on the depth chart are really going to dictate these things. Basically, you're just kind of along for the ride. I think, obviously, they didn't have any choice but to use him. We weren't upset about it."

I'm no Butch fan, but in his defense, he did say prior to the Southern Miss game that McBride would play if Guarantano left the field.

Parents are happy, kid seems ok with it, know it all Canuck proven wrong again - seems like a good outcome to me.

Yep. Seems he just has jilted Ron Bell-like issues with Butch in Post #2.

Could have just said he has issues, but re Post #2, I'll take your word on it since I have him back on ignore. #serenitynow

Enjoy life on your tiny island and I will side with 99% of Vol fans, the media...basically anyone with common sense.

I hope he does too. Maybe they will need another freshman to come in for a couple of plays against Vandy to sew up a 5-7 season. TG4 and 3601 can high five each other and post about how smart Butch Jones is.

When did I condone it or defend Butch? I just simply pointed out that the kid's mom was happy about it and that I doubted she cares what you think.

If he thinks you did, then it must be true.

Let's update the scorecard.

17-40
152 yards
3.8 per attempt
1 touchdown
2 interceptions

His 2 interceptions were a 70 yard pick 6 and the other gave Missouri the ball on the UT 28...all in a 50-17 demolition to a very mediocre Missouri team.

The Vols will still be able to maybe beat Vandy to finish 5-7 after they are killed by LSU next week. Obviously, a GREAT move by Jones. I can see why you would defend him.

I will pray for our SEC fans. Maybe they'll have an SEC basketball team to support this season.

Yep. Seems he just has jilted Ron Bell-like issues with Butch in Post #2.

17-40
152 YDS
1 TD
2 INT

But at least both of you got the thrill of a lifetime having your redshirt burned.

By a coach that didn't finish the season on a team that got blown out by Vandy.

Thrilling
