The NIU trip to Iowa looking a little rough next year

HA!

Believe me a darkness has settled in on the city of Columbus today and you are right that this will be a very tough game for NIU next year.

Childers better start improving at throwing the ball or we had better find a better option or it could get embarrassing.

Outside of tears , I just don't know there will be anyone to throw to. NIUs lack of skill at WR is getting about as bad as we have seen probably in a decade

DJ Brown could progress and maybe Juwaun Wesley? Next year the entire offensive line will be back same with the defensive line. If Childers takes a step forward and some WR emerge this could be a very good team next year that may surprise some of the big name schools on the schedule.

Pretty anazing how slow Toledo is ascending in others receiving votes. Shouldn't a 1 loss MAC team with only loss to top 10 team be breaking the rankings?

DJ Brown is progressing well this season and with the extra practices for the bowl game and then spring and fall practices I see him making large strides. Juwaun Wesley looks the part, and with getting the extra reps in the spring and fall I am excited about him getting closer to and maybe meeting his potential.

I am very excited about Charles Robinson IV He is 6'3", 210 lbs, has a 40" vertical and runs a 4.7 40; not blazing speed but quick. I really hope we put him at WR; he is too light to play TE, and I think bulking him up may result in a loss of some of the well-advertised athletic ability. With his size and athletic ability I am hoping he is the next Kenny G. Will he be? Who knows, but he sure looks the part, and you gotta love his attitude about breaking records. While he is only a true FR next year that special kind of talent we need to get reps.

Loosing Beebe will be tough. However, we have Cole Tucker who will have a full year (including the extra bowl game practices) and I am hoping to see him make strides in being our possession receiver; he looks like he can stretch the field pretty well also. We also have 2 other true FR WRs that I do mot know much about.

We have Tears (a RS SO) back, and I think he will continue to improve and by next year may be something special.

Of course there are some ifs, but I think we have every reason to see our WR corps being very strong next year, and I sure don't see them being the worse WR corps in a decade!

I really like the WRs coming in, but they're the wrong type of receivers for Childers skill set. We have tall, downfield WRs coming into the system: parchment 6-2, D.Rob 6-5, J.Rob 6-3, C.Rob 6-3, Tucker 6-1, Brummet 6-3. We need more quick, elusive guys if we stick to only throwing underneath. My thought is Koko, who's a 5'9", 170 elusive RB gets moved to wr. Also, i think Wesley gets much more action next year. He was underused.

Iowa has been an erratic team this year, their offense did next to nothing against Northwestern 2 weeks ago. Only Fitzgerald's timid play calling kept the Cats from winning in regulation. NIU has proven they are good enough to win in the Big 10, especially with this defense which may be the best among non power conference programs no worse than in the top 3. Considering the massive budget disparity between NIU and a typical Big 10 program that is quite a statement

NIU has beaten Iowa before and the losses have mostly been very close and competitive games. The FSU game has me licking my chops, with where FSU has fallen to, NIU has a great opportunity to come into Tallahassee and get a win which would be huge nationally for the program

Lots of good teams but not that many great ones. Plenty of 2 and 3 loss teams in the Top 25 with a few games to go. Hope the Canes take down ND.

I always root for the MAC, even WMU. Our conference needs respect and the only way it can get that is by beating big name teams.

+1

It is harder for Toledo to receive votes when games are televised on ESPNU.
The MAC is disrespected.
For a MAC team to get an Access Bowl in the current system it must almost certainly go undefeated, or receive allot of help from situations beyond its control. This includes other conference champions losing unexpectedly at least once etc.

I am hoping that Childers improves in the passing game and that if he does not that someone beats him out for the starting position.
