Unless a drastic turnaround occurs this season we need to let him go. He's done nothing in his tenure here.

On top of that, even in the midst of stinking it up he considered the Marshall job and, as I understand it, would have gone but TU was going to enforce the buyout and Marshall backed out. In other words, even if this guy does somehow become a basketball coach, he will bolt as soon as anyone gives him a look. Being patient with this guy and helping him develop as a coach at the expense of our program will get us nowhere.

Hey are Ad is smoking weed and won't fire our coach now. If you coach has had bad couple of years and you have high standards you should fire him now.

Are you sure it's our AD who's smoking weed?

I agree with you. Finney won't be fired mid-season, though. I just don't get the feeling that our AD would do that. That said, I hope he's at least testing the waters with Floyd as we watch this season unfold (or unravel, as the case may be).

I've posted it before, we not only owe it to ourselves to straighten men's bball out but we owe it to our league. Bringing Floyd to Tulane would make CUSA better.

Yeah, I actually voted to let him finish out the year, but there is no harm in starting to talk to Floyd right now. I remember some pretty tough Tulane BB teams - no reason those days can't be revisited.

I really have never been a fan of Finney after we had Marsh, Spann, Brown, all graduate and he could do no better then 16-15. The guy has very few talented players on his team and he's not lighting a fire under his team's a@@. I say get rid of him now to show that were serious about winning. Tim Floyd where are you????

I don't think he'll be fired in mid-season, but I think the re-evaluation period will be brief. I also see no harm in getting in touch with the Tim Floyds of the world upon returning from the break. Let's face it, the team is very poorly coached. For a team to experience a mid-season turn-around the coaching has to be, at the very least, competent. There will be no turn-around on Freret St. this year. And it pains me to say that because I really wish Finney had done better.

Me too. It's nothing personal against Finney (heck I don't know the guy) and I wish he could have gotten it done. He didn't. Time to switch gears. It can be really great to watch games at Fogelman. It will be again. :)

Well I know this, there is a $7 Million upgrade to Fogelman on the front burner in RD's office to double its capacity. So it leads me to believe that basketball will not be left to wallow in its own misery.

The thing that scares me is that I'm not so sure that Dickson getting rid of Finney is as much of a slam dunk as we may think.
My interpretation of some things I've heard Dickson say are that 1) You have to discount the performance of the team when Finney had mostly Perry Clark players because they were "selfish." 2) Therefore, this is really the first year he has had his own recruits. We're a "young team."
Remember Dickson hired Finney. He believes Finney is a good coach.
I don't hate Finney either. In fact, he seems like a very personable guy.
