NIU doesn’t win bowl games. Here’s to 8-4 and not getting blown out by some crap Sun Belt team.

I thought Rodney Hall throwing was really bad.
He can run I guess.
No complete quarterback as of now with this bunch.
I will stay with Childers.

Don't make long term QB plans, we can't keep 'em healthy. For those of you giving up on young Marcus, not to worry, the DL awaits him soon.
Sad but statistically true.

Hope one of these QBs really takes a step in the off-season because starting another freshmen isn't the answer.
I really hope NIU wins a bowl game this year just so the Carey haters can go from "he can't win a bowl" to "he didn't win the MAC."

I see it's already started!

It did seem like they went away from the running backs too soon, but lets be honest as soon as Toledo went up by 2 scores Childers wasn't bringing them back.

Only getting 3 after the blocked punt was huge.

They had 2 tries, not one. They tried a long throw on 3rd down - not exactly Childers' forte as everyone on here since day 1 has said. THEN they settled for the long FG. Do something Childers can actually accomplish - run or throw a shorter pass. Every time they throw long I feel like it's a wasted down.

There was what, 4 minutes left and they had 1 timeout? Don't think that's the time to try to be picking up 3 yards.

If you get a FG you are within 1 score. But you are not making a freaking 47 yard FG with Hagan. Sorry. Or, with a safer play, you get a few yards and try to convert a 4th and 3 or 4th and 4. Toledo was probably going to give you a short gain.
And then you've burned 40+ seconds to get 7 yards.

I get what you're saying, I just don't think there really was a good option.

No, you run out of bounds or you also have a chance of getting the first down, stopping the clock for a while. Besides, an extreme long shot - a long throw by Childers, followed by another extreme long-shot, a 47-yarder by Hagan, is not a recipe for getting within one score.

It sure seems like in bowl games, other teams have a chance to scout NIU (i.e. more than 1 week preparation) and figure out what we do, and beat us. Rod has to overcome that.

Long passes are pretty worthless. I would rather see a 15 yard pass with someone moving up the field.

You're still splitting hairs here.

Also, the 3rd down play call is a TD if your QB could throw. Smalls was open.

Wtf you can't use this circular argument. I'll take winning the MAC over a bowl win 100 times over 100. Bowl games are meaningless exhibitions.

I just hope NIU wins so I can watch dopes like you flip flop.

I think we have a very basic offense and with time to scout it we are dead in the water.

Felt more like a tragedy tonite, I just didn't laugh much.

Theater of the absurd?

“This above all: to thine own run game be true,
And it must follow with deep passes, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be an inaccurate passer to any man, be him open or covered”

I saw Anthony Thompson scribbling this on the side lines.

I don't care who starts QB next year, as long as that person is the clear starter. Can't go into next season with that indecision. I echo 7's comments on being proud of this team and what they have done. Pretty incredible Toledo o-line, they seem to have a combo of power and speed that took NIU out of the game. Great turnaround season, and especially if they could win out from here. I think Huskies settle the score with the Rockets next season (hopefully not in Chicago, and hopefully on a Saturday in DeKalb).

I can guarantee you that the game will not be on a Saturday, and my guess is that it will be played in Chicago.
