I have no problem with this series. I would have preferred that all the game be in Greenville at first though. I can live with it since Charlotte is as close as Greenville for me...unlike the ASU series that puts me a damn days drive to that game in Boone.

ECU gets games with UNC and NCSt.

I wish UH could get that kind of agreement with our past Confernece mates that are P5 besides just TT.

What has many ECU older fans upset is that it was decades before either UNC or NCSU played in Greenville. We played them both exclusively away for a long time. Times have changed. We don't have that luxury now to dictate exclusive all home games with ASU or UNCC like UNC and NCSU had with us. Different time...different circumstances.

There just is 0 benefit of getting wins over cupcakes especially being perceived as being a lesser conference. It does nothing to attract folks to the stadium. Its just a bad move....unless ECU doesn't really have any choices in the matter. With that said IF we have to do non P5 schools Id rather it be regional and not FCS.

The benefit is the highest ranked non power conference champion gets the access Bowl slot. You don’t get into that discussion going 0-4 or 1-3 OOC And 2-2 lessens the margin or error. 3-1 is the most ideal and 4-0 leads to a potential magical season. So the less risks you take the better. Every access bowl team has shown us the blueprint and yet we still have fans wondering why we want to go easier or begging to keep the muderers row.

AAC conference play is enough of a SOS boost so let’s actually have winning OOC Records for a change.

See this is short sighted. The G5 access bowl is great and all...but UCF this year if they have even a semi high profile win over the Big 5 they are seriously in convo for a playoff spot. Houston was in the convo a few years ago, and the ECU team a few years back with the schedule they had had they run it...could have at least been in the conversation. The myth here that we as a conference are believing is that we can't make a playoff spot. We can.... we have to schedule like we can....eventually we are going to break through. Breaking through is the first step to a better system. I guarantee you first time a non P5 gets in.... they expand the playoff and we have a much better chance of having a actual champion.

The problem everyone here has is that you are satisfied with the crumbs that have been given to us. We have been subjugated and the moment you start accepting as truth.... well the P5 have won. We have school in this conference each year that can compete nationally with big boys..... that is why cupcake scheduling theory that other conferences are doing ...or the blue print if you will is bogus. Its the blue print to accepting the crumbs. Enjoy being okay with mediocrity ...I believe this conference has the potential for far more, and thus one day so does ECU. We won't always suck this bad...and we won't always be great....but when we are...I want to know that there is a chance we be champions.

Its going to get tough in the scheduling dept for ECU especially without someone awesome like Terry Holland who P5 schools like and respect

You have no idea what you are talking about dude

Enlighten me

These games are being played in 2024-2025. I'd be shocked if there isn't an 8-team playoff by that point.

If the access bowl spot is even still a thing at that point, it won't be as valuable when a playoff bid is possible, and a weak-sauce schedule won't cut it.

As long as our 4th OOC opponent in 2025 is a so-called power conference school, I'm fine with this series.

Regional matchups are fun, and hopefully both schools will be improved.

ECU Future Schedules:

2024: Appalachian State, BYU, at Charlotte, at Virginia Tech
2025: Charlotte, Virginia Tech, at Appalachian State, ?

2 power(ish) schools and 2 regional G5 opponents.

Last 2025 will be FCS. I guess a FCS-less 2024 isn't so bad.

I had heard that 2019 was likely our last year playing FCS.

Bingo--- we don't need so many home and homes w CUSA. Once in a blue moon is fine but it's becoming more frequent. Our fans don't want that. Let's be honest playing UNCC and playing NC Central is really no different.

Personally I'd rather just schedule another FCS team and get an extra home game. Guarantee a win (most times) and get the revenue of another home game. 7 home games should be the goal instead of scheduling home and homes w CUSA and the sun belt.

If Charlotte and ODU won't do that or mandate home and home then don't play them. Compher really has not done much right lately. The BYU series continuing is about the only thing.

RE: ECU and UNCC agree to home and home...for some reason
Was just looking back, and it just makes me sad.

OOC Schedules, all G4/FCS in Bold (left out BYU, despite their run of bad luck this year)

Last 10 years:
2007 - VT, UNC, WVU, NC State
2008 - VT, WVU, NC State, Virginia
2009 - App State, WVU, UNC, VT
2010 - VT, UNC, NC State, Navy
2011 - SC, VT, UNC, Navy
2012 - App State, SC, UNC, Navy
2013 - ODU, VT, UNC, NC State
2014 - NC Central, SC, VT, UNC
2015 - Towson, Florida, VT, BYU
2016 - Western Carolina, NC State, SC, VT
2017 - JMU, WVU, VT, BYU

Next 10 years:
2018 - NC A&T, UNC, VT, ODU
2019 - NC State, Gardner-Webb, VT, ODU
2020 - Marshall, WVU, VT, SC
2021 - App State, Marshall, SC, ?
2022 - NC State, VT, BYU, ?
2023 - VT, ?, ?, ?
2024 - UNCC, VT, App State, BYU
2025 - UNCC, App State, VT, ?
2026 - App State, ?, ?, ?

Getting progressively softer by the year. Lame
